LOCATION Traveling position: We do not require you to live in a specific location for this position but you will be expected to report to one of our current job sites across the US. ABOUT THE JOB The Tepa Companies are seeking a Journeyman I Electrician who is responsible for installing and repairing complex electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems working from a technical blueprint. Job Functions: * Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes * Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring * Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, using tools, such as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender * Pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by electrician helper * Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps * Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools * Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads * Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope * Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement * Repairs faulty equipment or systems * Cuts and welds steel structural members, using flame-cutting and welding equipment WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR * 4 years verified trade experience * Must have a working knowledge of various test equipment * Must have a knowledge of electrical systems, power generation, blueprints, and maintenance and repair * Must be able to communicate clearly with Superintendents, Operators, Laborers, and all other personnel on site * Must be able to understand, read, and write in English * Must be able to gain an understanding of how to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions * Must be able gain a working knowledge of the National Electric Code, and applicable Unified Facilities Guide Specifications and Unified Facilities Criteria * Must be able to assist in troubleshooting and have a strong attention to detail * Must be able to pass a background check required to access US military installations * Must have a valid driver's license
