LOCATION Traveling position: We do not require you to live in a specific location for this position but you will be expected to report to one of our current job sites across the US. Tepa is a federal prevailing wage contractor. Pay rates and per diem will be determined by project and location. Project sites will be discussed during interview process. ABOUT THE JOB The Tepa Companies are seeking a Journeyman I Electrician who is responsible for installing and repairing complex electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems working from a technical blueprint. Job Functions: * Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes * Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring * Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, using tools, such as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender * Pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by electrician helper * Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps * Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools * Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads * Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope * Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement * Repairs faulty equipment or systems * Cuts and welds steel structural members, using flame-cutting and welding equipment WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR * 4 years verified trade experience * Must have a working knowledge of various test equipment * Must have a knowledge of electrical systems, power generation, blueprints, and maintenance and repair * Must be able to communicate clearly with Superintendents, Operators, Laborers, and all other personnel on site * Must be able to understand, read, and write in English * Must be able to gain an understanding of how to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions * Must be able gain a working knowledge of the National Electric Code, and applicable Unified Facilities Guide Specifications and Unified Facilities Criteria * Must be able to assist in troubleshooting and have a strong attention to detail * Must be able to pass a background check required to access US military installations * Must have a valid driver's license
