Posting Summary Job Title Athletics Academic Coordinator Division Office of the President Department Athletics Department Work Status Full Time Position Category Staff FLSA Exempt Pay Range Exempt Salary Range $55,000 - $57,000 / year Fund Source State Support Job Summary The Athletics Academic Coordinator will monitor the academic process of student-athletes, including schedule building and course selection, academic planning and recovery plans, the assignment of tutorial support, grade and class checks, the coordination of travel letters and monitoring of progress towards degree and continuing eligibility requirements. Job Duties Morgan State University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, is seeking an Athletics Academic Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties: * Monitor academic progress of assigned sports including schedules, course building, progress towards degree, and continuing eligibility * Provide information to student-athletes, coaches, and staff regarding institutional policies, academic requirements, and NCAA Division I athletics eligibility * Provide timely and accurate reports on the academic status of assigned student-athletes to coaches, academic services, compliance, and sports administrators * Frequent communication with academic services, coaches, and faculty regarding the academic progress of student-athletes * Participate in recruiting activities regarding prospective student-athletes * Counsel student-athletes regarding academic success and transition issues * Provide referrals to campus support resources * Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other staff, student-athletes, coaches, and administrators and be able to work in time-sensitive pressured environments * Ability to work some nights and/or weekends as needed Requested Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: at least 1 year of relevant experience with student services in intercollegiate athletics Other Preferences for Consideration Candidates who possess the following will receive preference: * Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, sports management, student development, or a closely related field * Master's degree in the same highly desired * advising and student programming experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Excellent Communication skills (Verbal and Written) * Knowlege of NCAA Eligibility Rules
