POSITION OVERVIEW: This position reports to a Senior Engineer and will be a member of the corporate engineering team. The successful candidate will have an impactful role in supporting the operational needs of Fortera's demonstration plant. The internship will provide experience and first-hand insight of the challenges and rewards of designing/building/operating a first-of-its-kind scaled up process. The role will be primarily located in San Jose, CA with opportunities to travel to the plant site in Redding, CA. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Use AutoCAD Lt. to update BFDs, PFDs, and P&IDs * Review technical specifications, audit, and source parts as needed for the demonstration plant in Redding, CA * Assist Engineering/Operations team with editing/updating technical documents including, but not limited to, SOPs, Design Basis, PHAs, etc. * Support detailed design efforts for a full-scale commercial plant * Investigate alternative technologies for dissolution, dewatering, drying, and filtration * Assist with hydraulic calculations * Review industry best practices related to piping * Create and analyze databases to optimize processes MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * 3+ years of study in Chemical Engineering * Class C driver's license and insurance * Eagerness to learn * Willingness to work in a team * A "can-do" attitude * Experience with MS Office products with proficiency in Excel * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Willingness to travel to Redding, CA COMPENSATION: The hourly range for this internship is $25.00 - $30.00.
