Job Description:
The Institute is a multidisciplinary university center that conducts teaching, research, and public programming concerning the core texts and great debates of Western civilization; the principles, ideals, and institutions of the American and Ohio political order; and the foundations of responsible leadership and informed citizenship. The Institute is an independent academic unit within the University of Toledo and is initially physically located at the college of law. The Interim Assistant Director Institute Marketing & Communications will help the Institute achieve its mission, which is defined by Ohio Revised Code Sec. 3364.07, by assisting the Director and Executive Director with the Institute's marketing, communications, and outreach. This position will begin on an interim and part-time basis with the possibility of becoming a full-time position after the spring 2025 semester.
Duties of the Interim Assistant Director Institute Marketing & Communications include:
1. Plan and execute the multimedia marketing strategy for presenting the Institute's mission to a diverse set of audiences.
2. Design and fulfill the Institute's communications strategy to maximize participation in events, enrollment in courses, and engagement with the broader Toledo community.
3. Collaborate with Institute faculty and staff to organize and execute plans for Institute events and outreach.
4. Provide support for graphics design, video recording, photography, and other technical competencies necessary for building the Institute's platform.
5. Support the Director and Executive Director with institutional development, engagement with stakeholders, and presentations to local organizations
6. Lead teams of staff and intermittent workers
7. Facilitate the Institute's coordination with relevant offices and departments at the University of Toledo.
8. Perform additional duties as assigned
This is a staff leadership role within the Institute and is critical for effective and efficient operation of the Institute. This position is necessary for ensuring the Institute's success in marketing, communication, and outreach and is directly responsible for designing, organizing, and executing the Institute's marketing and communications strategies. The Interim Assistant Director Institute Marketing & Communications assists the Executive Director in assigning priorities and aligning resources with effective strategy and provides timely support for marketing and communications technical needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or combination of education and experience is required.
* Two (2) years of communications, marketing, promotion, and/or outreach experience is required.
* Ability to communicate with consistency, discretion, and clarity with a variety of interlocutors.
* Demonstrated excellence in communications, mission development, and organizational programming.
* Proficiency in video production and graphic design.
* Strict attention to detail required.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with supervising staff.
* Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
* Prepared to work collaboratively and in a coordinated way with the Institute's Director and Executive Director.
* Excellent management and organizations skills-task oriented and deadline conscious.
* Flexibility adapting to changing goals and priorities.
* At least five (5) years of communications, marketing, promotion, and/or outreach experience preferred.
