Position Type: Temporary Worker/Temporary Date Posted: 3/8/2022 Location: Special Education   Additional Information: Show/Hide JOB TITLE: Licensed Specialist in School Psychology-Intern DUTY DAYS: PAY GRADE: SALARY SCHEDULE: Primary Purpose: The person in this position assists the schools in the development of appropriate educational programs for students by conducting full individual evaluations, providing direct counseling, consultative psychological services, and conducting and/or participating in ARD meetings for students while under the supervision of a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology. Qualifications: Education: Currently enrolled in a graduate program for students pursuing a Specialist's Degree or Master's Degree in School Psychology. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Under the supervision of a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology who meets the Texas State Board of Psychologist's supervisor requirements, the LSSP Intern will: * Conduct Full Individual Evaluations as part of the multi-disciplinary evaluation team to identify students who may be eligible for special education services * Facilitate and conduct the ARD committee meetings on a regular basis using the District Special Education Software IEP program * Utilize the District Special Education Software IEP program to keep accurate ARD information on all special education students * Provide consultations regarding results of evaluation or other questions of a psychological nature to school personnel and parents. * Provide counseling to students as recommended by an ARD * Work collaboratively with campus administration to ensure State Assessment requirements are fulfilled and current State Assessment information is available for appropriate personnel * Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop the IEP through the ARD committee process for each student assigned * Monitor implementation of the IEP/ARD and support service recommendations. * Assist special education teachers in developing appropriate IEPs for their students * Collaborate with Intervention Assistance Teams (IAT) Chair as appropriate * Collaborate, assist, and coordinate: * Implementation of effective instructional strategies and modifications * Appropriate instructional strategies/activities * Use of learning strategies, materials, and equipment * With regular education classroom teacher to modify regular curriculum or differentiate instruction 12. Consult district and outside resource people regarding education, psychological, social, medical, and personal needs of students 13. Provide short-term services for students such as crisis counseling, suicide prevention, and behavior consultation. 14. Consult with district personnel on problem issues and crisis management as they relate to students 15. Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers. 16. Provide ongoing information to parents regarding Transition services 17. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members 18. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. 19. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required. 20. Facilitate materials directives 21. Participation in staff development activities to improve job-related skills 22. Maintain understanding of and comply with federal, state, district, and school procedures, regulations, and policies for the special education process 23. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. 24. Perform other duties as assigned.
