Classification Title Post-Doctoral Associate AD FLSA Exempt UGA Job Code FTE 1.0 Minimum Qualifications Position Summary
The Zeltner Lab at the University of Georgia's Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM) is seeking a creative, motivated, hard-working and enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow to drive a research project supported by a new NIH/NICHD award focused employing human pluripotent stem cells to model Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH). CAH is a severe, genetic disorder affecting the adrenal gland that results in patients being unable to regulate salt/water intake and steroid synthesis that leads to virilization and severe adrenal crisis. We use various adrenal gland cell types derived from patients as well as 3D organoids to model this disorder, understand its disease mechanism and attempt therapeutic solutions. This is a multidisciplinary project with enormous training opportunities in endocrinology/adrenal gland biology, stem cell biology, and human disease modeling. This project encompasses multiple collaborations across the US. The successful postdoctoral fellow will be designing and evaluating experiments, developing new ideas and promoting current research, and preparing and publishing scientific manuscripts in collaboration with the Principal Investigator. The postdoctoral fellow may be responsible for the operation of scientific equipment and mentoring others, including training/supervision of students and staff. There are various career development opportunities available to the candidate.
