Traffic / Transportation Engineer - Tallahassee, Jacksonville, or Panama City Beach, Florida

Halff has an open position for a Civil Engineer, who is on track to obtain their Florida EI Certification or PE License, to join our Traffic / Transportation team based out of our Tallahassee, Jacksonville or Panama City Beach, Florida office. The ideal candidate would have at least 2 years of experience conducting traffic impact studies and level of service analyses. This role will allow you the opportunity to be trained and mentored by an experienced Traffic / Transportation Engineer and to gain ever increasing professional responsibility. Halff's Traffic & Innovative Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) optimize incident response, reduce travel times, disseminate public safety and relay travel advisory information to the public. We're skilled in all aspects of complex smart city, connected vehicle, autonomous vehicle and transportation/traffic management center design. We possess a thorough understanding of design, materials, construction, and system testing and warranty issues.
The Halff Traffic & Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Advantage
* Halff provides planning, analysis, design, permitting and CEI services for its ITS and RTMC projects.
* Design team leadership brings more than 30 years of experience in ITS and traffic operations.
* Halff has designed custom ITS and traffic engineering solutions for cities, counties, Florida Department of Transportation and Texas Department of Transportation.
Traffic / Transportation Engineer Responsibilities:
* Works under a Team Leader in the development of traffic impact studies, LOS (level of service) analyses, peer review, PD&E studies on the traffic side, traffic operations analyses, roadway safety improvements, traffic data collection and studies, traffic volume projections, conceptual improvement recommendations, crash evaluations, signal warrant studies, access management, miscellaneous planning, and other traffic related tasks
* Manages traffic / transportation projects or tasks in support of business needs
* Assists in managing the workload of design staff including other Engineers, EI's, and technical staff
* Assists in development and management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules
* Reviews traffic / transportation designs and detailed plans for accuracy and consistency
* Reports on project progress
* Collaborates with clients and other consultants
* Assists with business development activities
Traffic / Transportation Engineer Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering Degree
* Must be on track to obtain Florida Engineer Intern (EI) Certification or Florida Professional Engineer (PE) License
* At least 2 years of experience conducting traffic impact studies, LOS (level of service) analyses, peer review, PD&E studies on the traffic side, traffic operations analyses, roadway safety improvements, traffic data collection and studies, traffic volume projections, conceptual improvement recommendations, crash evaluations, signal warrant studies, access management, miscellaneous planning, and/or other traffic related tasks
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Must be self-directed yet a team player, and have focus on quality, integrity and success
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software
* Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients
* GIS capability is a plus
