BASE SALARY INFORMATION Equipment Operator Journey 1 ….. $ 30.81 / Hour Equipment Operator Journey 2 .…. $ 32.60 / Hour What you will be doing: As a journeyman-level operator, you will operate heavy equipment to maintain roads, clear snow, and perform emergency responses. This includes inspecting equipment, performing routine maintenance, and handling snow and ice removal with plows, graders, and sanders. You'll also manage snow haul operations, drainage tasks with steam generators, and contribute to infrastructure maintenance such as asphalt, concrete, and bridge repairs. Additionally, you will set up traffic control, respond to emergencies, and perform other maintenance duties as needed. This vacancy may be filled at either the Equipment Operator 1 or 2 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at Level 1, promotion to the Level 2 will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class. COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIRED This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383), to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety-sensitive duties, and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382. Equipment Operator Journey 1 A Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for this position. A conditional hire approval can be given to applicants that do not yet possess a Class A CDL. This means that the proposed appointee must successfully obtain a Class A CDL within 120 days of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment. Equipment Operator Journey 2 A Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with N-Tanker endorsement, is required at time of hire. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC FACILITIES DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures and CANNOT start work in a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) position until Management Services or designee has received confirmation of the proposed appointee passing the required Pre-Employment drug test.
