Position Type: Administrative Intern Date Posted: 10/25/2023 Location: Center for Education Services Closing Date: Ongiong   Additional Information: Show/Hide Administrative Intern- Anticipated vacancies for the 2024-2025 school year Elementary, Middle, or High School Category 02 on the A&S Salary Scale, 11-month work year Salary Range: $75,077 - $120,022 Role Overview Under the direction of the school principal, this position is a training opportunity that could lead to a future assistant principal position within the district. Administrative Interns learn and assist with the administration and supervision of school operations, providing instructional feedback and leadership to staff and students, and supporting and providing a safe and secure learning environment. Minimum Requirements * Currently holds or is immediately eligible for Maryland State Department of Education Professional Certificate with Administrator I endorsement. * Has three (3) years of documented successful classroom teaching or equivalent experience. * Has a strong commitment to student achievement. * Evidence of successful school-based or district-based leadership roles. * Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. * Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills that ensure effective team building. * Proficient use of various computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Google applications, and student information systems. * Must have regular and predictable attendance. * Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Preferred Qualifications * Has knowledge of the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards and MCAP assessments. * Has familiarity with local, state, and national trends in education relevant to school programs including Maryland's Blueprint for the Future and ESSA. * Three most recent years of work in a public school setting. * Has the ability to effectively apply knowledge of best practices and educational research. Role Responsibilities Learning all aspects of the assistant principal role by: * Assisting in the development and implementation of a vision for learning that is shared and supported by all stakeholders. * Assisting in the alignment of all aspects of school culture to promote student achievement and an effective professional learning community. * Assisting in the management of the organization, operation, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment. * Assisting in the monitoring of the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment for the purpose of improved data-based instructional practices. * Utilizing a variety of data to assist in the development of the school improvement plan * Assisting in the supervision and evaluation of school staff. * Supporting the planning and implementation of staff development activities. * Providing leadership and support to school staff through regular classroom visits, conferences, and meetings. * Assisting with classroom management techniques, including behavioral intervention strategies. * Ensuring the success of every student by acting in an ethical manner with integrity and fairness. * Attending and contributing to professional meetings. * Demonstrating a courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools. * Assuming specific responsibilities assigned by the principal. * Piloting a model, under the guidance of the principal and central office staff, of an administrator who teaches 20% of their day as required by the Blueprint for Maryland's Future.
