Job Summary
Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.
Preps, scans, indexes and performs quality assurance for all incoming reports and records in paper format. Performs a variety of duties related to the processing and analysis of all inpatient and outpatient records. Conducts retrospective review to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements for accurate documentation. Facilitates completion of Death Certificates and emergency release of information to other facilities.
Example of Essential Functions:
- Performs research and merges duplicate records. Completes verge reports.
- Performs point of care scanning daily for in-house patients
- Corrects and moves documents in the electronic medical record when applicable.
- Purges and boxes documents for storage when applicable.
- Performs daily pickup and reconciliation of record documents within the hospital for discharged patients.
- Backups the birth register when needed
- Ensures that all prep, scanning, and indexing of documents is completed within the established time frames.
- Performs analysis of inpatient and outpatient records and run the weekly reminder and suspension letters.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to alphabetize names and sequence numbers.
- Ability to use computer terminal for prolonged periods.
- Ability to work in an environment that is conducive to frequent distractions and interruptions.
- Ability to work under time constraints.

- Good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Performs effective communication with both internal and external customers.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:
- A High School Diploma or GED is required with an Associate’s Degree in Medical Office Technology, Medical Office Systems, Medical Secretarial Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- RHIT – Registered Health Information Technician is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of Medical Records experience is preferred.

Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for patients in the following age groups:

Physical Demands:
Sedentary - Light Work - Lifting up to 15 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes). While work is mostly done sitting, a certain amount of walking or standing is often necessary.

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable.
Hourly range: $16.38 - $22.66
