Job Title: Sports Broadcaster – Rowing
Reports to: USRowing Competition Coordinator, USRowing Regatta Director [On-Site]
Location: Travel to regional and national championship regattas is required. Location is dependent on the USRowing regional or national championship regatta for which the applicant is applying. Please refer to the 2025 USRowing Domestic Regatta Sport Broadcasting Opportunities section, detailing all locations, dates, and available positions.

USRowing is a nonprofit organization recognized by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. The organization’s mission is to steward, strengthen, and grow American rowing by championing performance and igniting new passion for the sport.
USRowing selects, trains, and manages the teams that represent the U.S. in international competition. The organization serves multiple constituencies including novice learn-to-rowers, parents of rowers, masters rowers, adaptive rowers, collegiate rowers, indoor rowers and, most recently, coastal rowers.

Job Summary: USRowing's Sport Broadcasters are responsible for cultivating an entertaining and engaging broadcast by providing in-depth coverage and analysis of the races, athletes, teams, and clubs. Broadcasters will utilize their passion and knowledge of rowing to analyze race lineups, conduct interviews, and highlight key storylines that emphasize the significance of the race, event, or sport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Have a strong passion for sports broadcasting with the ability to inspire others through event commentary.
- Jointly lead the broadcast for the entirety of the regatta livestream, providing color commentary, analysis of statistics, and other important information regarding the rowing events as they unfold.
- Interview athletes, teams, coaches, and other guests about their achievements, experiences, and knowledge of rowing.
- Research race strategies and past athlete performances to assist in the analysis of upcoming races.
- Read scripts for commercials, organizational announcements, and promotional materials.
- Provide accurate, insightful, and engaging coverage of the event for the livestream audience.
- Assist in the creation of inspirational promotional videos leading up to the regatta to assist in building anticipation and excitement for the event.
- Follow the USRowing Code of Conduct at all times in preparation and at the USRowing event.
- Be aware of the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention policies (MAAPP Aware) and how to report violations of misconduct. All reports of Sexual Misconduct must be reported directly to the U.S. Center for SafeSport at www.uscenterforsafesport.org or (833)-587-7233. Other violations of misconduct may be reported to USRowing here.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in broadcasting, including announcing, commentating, anchoring, radio, podcasting, or related fields.
- Possess a comprehensive knowledge of rowing, including a general understanding of USRowing Rules of Rowing, or demonstrate extensive expertise in sports broadcasting.
- Ability to work well and collaborate with USRowing staff and broadcasters.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to enunciate and project voice efficiently.
- Demonstrate professional etiquette during onsite interviews of participants and special guests.
- Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
Compensation: $250 per day
- USRowing will provide agreed upon travel and lodging accommodations to all broadcasters for National Championship events. For Regional Championship events, lodging will be provided for the duration of the event. USRowing will reimburse broadcasters for mileage in accordance with the 2025 IRS standard mileage rate. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to broadcasters on-site each day of competition.
