GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming State Library seeks an experienced individual to serve as a Systems Librarian for the WYLD Network office in Cheyenne, WY.
The WYLD Network is a statewide, multi-type library consortium of more than 100 member libraries. The WYLD Office at the State Library supports multiple software solutions for libraries using the SirsiDynix Symphony library system, including integrations with additional vendors for the Aspen Discovery online catalog, MessageBee patron notification services, as well as other third-party products to support library operations.
The Systems Librarian position provides technical expertise, day-to-day administration, and broad support for library software solutions. This position will use various technologies and excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide the best possible experience for library patrons and staff using the WYLD library system. This position reports directly to the WYLD Manager. It serves as a point of contact for member library staff with questions or concerns about all SirsiDynix software modules, emphasizing circulation and public access. The Systems Librarian will work with the WYLD Support Team and vendor technical support to manage other platforms and related software. This position will also be responsible for managing technical documentation and playing a pivotal role in training library staff on new and existing software programs. The systems librarian is required to be on-call for evening and weekend support on a rotating basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
* Provide support and training for Integrated Library System applications and resources available to library staff, including the library circulation, general policy configuration, and guidance with materials management.
* Support for the Aspen Discovery (WYLDcat) public access catalog. Including development and training for the catalog and related software.
* Support for reporting tools, including training and documentation.
* After-hours support for library services.
* Create and manage access to technical documentation for library staff for all SirsiDynix modules and related software.
* Support for patron authentication for access to statewide electronic resources.
* Support for the MessageBee communication platform.
* Assist libraries with the integration of digital content into library catalogs and websites.
* Shares responsibility with other WYLD Support Team for overall system development, planning for system upgrades, and the testing or implementing of new products.
* Helps evaluate software solutions and specifications and determines applicability to the WYLD information infrastructure.
* Evaluate new and emerging library technologies as they apply to Wyoming libraries in general.
* Maintain awareness of current and emerging issues in library technologies through conference attendance, listserv activity, and other professional reading.
* Participate in statewide and national initiatives such as user groups and professional originations.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to applicants with a Master of Library Science (MLS), Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), or an equivalent degree.
Preference will be given to applicants with two years of experience supporting an integrated library system, preferably SirsiDynix Symphony and related library software and hardware.
KNOWLEDGE:
* Knowledge of library technology standards and protocols such as MARC format, RDA, FRBR.
* Knowledge of database technologies such as MySQL or Microsoft Access.
* Knowledge in programming using JQuery, Perl, PHP, Python, JavaScript, or other programming languages.
* Knowledge and proficiency with web development tools such as HTML/CSS.
* Effective communication, interpersonal, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills with an ability to work with a widely diverse group of people.
* Demonstrated ability to work with people with varying levels of computer skills and the ability to make technology understandable to the library community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Library Science)
Experience:
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Library Science) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Library Technical Analyst
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Library Science) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Library Technical Analyst

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
* This position may be subject to being on-call during evening and weekend hours
