The Coordinator for Housing & Dining is a full-time professional responsible for overseeing the educational and developmental experiences of our residential communities housing 500 to 700 students. This role is integral in fostering a positive and engaging living environment that supports the academic, personal, and social growth of students. This position will collaborate with campus partners as well as internal and external stakeholders to ensure a holistic and supportive experience for students and guests.
This role requires a proactive approach to student engagement, a strong understanding of student development, and the ability to respond to crises or emergency situations. The Coordinator for Housing & Dining will also help maintain a safe and inclusive living environment by ensuring policy enforcement and upholding the university and department's standards for conduct within the residential communities.
The Coordinator for Housing & Dining will be assigned by Housing & Dining Leadership to one of the following Specialty Assignments: (1) Residential Management, (2) Outreach & Engagement, and (3) Operations & Special Projects. These specialty assignments can change during employment based upon departmental and/or leadership needs, but at any given time the coordinator will only be responsible for the duties in one specialty area. Job Category
Specialty Assignment - Residential Management
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and coordination for the residential communities of Lynx Crossing and City Heights, striving to ensure an inclusive and supportive living environment for students
* Supervise Assistant staff, ensuring they meet performance expectations and job responsibilities
* Select, co-train, and co-supervise Resident Assistants (student staff), ensuring they meet performance expectations and job responsibilities
* Serve as the primary conduct educator (also known as hearing officer), addressing policy violations, holding students accountable, and implementing educational sanctions as appropriate.
* Monitor the well-being of residents by conducting wellness follow-ups, addressing concerns, and connecting students with appropriate campus resources
* Advise and support staff and residents on an individual and group basis as necessary, and refer when appropriate to campus resources
* Collaborate with other departments, such as Counseling Services, Campus Police, and Student Affairs, to support student success and well-being
* Support administrative tasks such as room move request, room changes, incident documentation, and facility follow-ups to ensure the smooth operation of the residence hall
* Facilitate conflict resolution between roommates or community members, encouraging respectful, effective, and developmental solutions
* Support the management of administrative and staff management during transitionary periods during the academic year including but not limited to, Fall Term, Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Term, Spring Break, and Summer Term
* Co-manage and track the budget for community programs, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and adherence to departmental policies
* Participate in other work efforts as requested to achieve departmental goals.

Responsibilities
* Co-create, assess, and oversee a comprehensive residential curriculum that aligns with university and departmental' s educational mission and fosters student learning, growth, and development
* Collaborate with internal and external partners, including but not limited to the Division of Student Affairs and Dining, to integrate educational content into the residential experience
* Provide training and ongoing support to Housing & Dining staff on implementation of curriculum, lesson plans, learning outcomes, and facilitation techniques
* Coordinate teams of staff to develop, plan, and execute residential curriculum at various levels within the residential communities, including but not limited to Signature Events, Welcome Week, Cultural Celebrations, Late Night Programming, and Weekend Programming
* Assess that the curriculum is educational and inclusive and addresses the needs of diverse and multigenerational student populations
* Create lesson plans, workshops, and bulletin board content that supports the curriculum
* Collaborate with academic support services to connect residential learning with students' academic success
* Collaborate with campus partners in Living Learning Communities (LLCs) to develop, implement, and manage the residential curriculum to align with both campus partner and departmental needs
* Regularly assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the residential curriculum, using data to make edits for improvement
* Hire, co-train, and supervise student staff, ensuring they meet performance expectations and job responsibilities

Responsibilities
* Support the department's occupancy management operations by assisting with accurate reporting of occupied and unoccupied rooms, supporting move-in/out processes, assist with inventory control and room readiness
* Generate comprehensive occupancy reports tailored to specific needs through software systems like StarRez and Salto
* Coordinate and serve as a liaison for facility and custodial maintenance, repairs, and capital projects, ensuring building and inventory standards, safety, and cleanliness are met
* Optimize Mail Center operations through evaluation, implementation, and administration of operational policies and procedures with the goal of improving resident experience
* Assist students with housing concerns, billing, damage assessments, and appeals by conducting room condition inspections during move-in/out
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all keys to provide audit to Associate Director for key replacement and fee administration
* Coordinate departmental room reservations process for internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to A/V equipment, payments, resources, event logistic support, and communication
* Conduct thorough common area building walks to ensure quality standards are met and maintained; and provide support on addressing necessary repairs
* Maintain accurate asset and condition inventory and develop replacement and proposals and timelines on a 5- and 10-year cycle
* Propose plans and timelines for special facility-related projects during breaks and university closures in coordination with building traffic and residential experience
* Coordinate outreach and communication to vendors to solicit quotes and other pertinent information to fulfill special projects and maintenance needs

Coordinator for Housing and Dining
What you will do:
Supervision and Staff Management
* Provide direct supervision, training, and support to Residence Life Staff, including but not limited to Resident Assistants (RAs), Programming Assistants (PAs), and Summer Housing Assistants (SHAs)
* Conduct regular one-one-one meetings and weekly staff meetings to ensure staff are meeting expectations and have the resources they need
* Evaluate staff performance through ongoing feedback, and mid-year and end-of-year evaluations
* Co-create and co-facilitate staff development opportunities through professional training, team building activities, workshops, and trainings
* Address staff concerns, conflicts, or performance issues promptly, providing coaching and corrective action when necessary
* Assist with interviewing, evaluating, and selecting Residence Life Staff
* In the case of a staff vacancy, the Coordinators for Housing & Dining with may be asked to support the departmental needs of staff supervision.
On-Call and Crisis Management
* Serve as part of a rotating on-call schedule to respond to after-hours emergencies and critical incidents within the residential communities
* Mange and respond to student crisis, including mental health emergencies, medical incidents, and behavioral concerns, following established procedures and protocols
* Collaborate with internal and external campus partners (e.g., Auraria Campus Police Department, Emergency Personnel, Facilities) during situations to ensure proper handling of incidents
* Serve as a support system for student staff on-call by answering, advising, and supporting on-site as needed
* Document incidents thoroughly, including student behaviors, action taken, and follow-up needs in university & departmental reporting systems
* Conduct wellness checks and follow-up meetings with students
* Maintain knowledge of university policies, emergency protocols, and local resources to manage a wide variety of crisis situations effectively
Conduct
* Serve as a conduct educator (also known as hearing officer) for student conduct cases related to residence hall policy violations, including but not limited to noise complaints, alcohol use, and guest policy infractions
* Review Incident Reports, gather relevant documentation, and communicate with involved parties to assess the details of each case
* Meet with students alleged to have violated policy, ensuring a fair and educational conduct process
* Uphold the university's code of conduct and residence life policies, applying consistent and equitable sanctions when appropriate
* Document hearings, outcomes, and follow-up actions in the university's conduct management system (Maxient), maintaining accurate and confidential records
* Assist in the development and revision of residential policies, ensuring they align with university standards and best practices in student conduct

* Develop and implement programs and initiatives that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice within residence halls and across campus
* Support staff in integrating DEIJ principles into their daily work, including program development and community building efforts
* Monitor and respond to issues of bias, discrimination, and harassment, ensuring appropriate reporting and follow-up procedures are followed
* Collaborate with university DEIJ offices and external organizations to stay informed on best practices and emerging trends

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
* A bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
* Two (2) years of professional experience working residence life, student/academic support, student conduct, event planning, or related experience.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific years of experience
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
* Master's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
* Experience working in Housing/Residence Life in Higher Education.
* Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, StarRez, Maxient, or Salto.
* Experience supervising staff.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $51,226 - 56,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
