South Seattle Campus is looking to hire a Programs Director, I-BEST & JIS in the Transitional Studies Division. Salary Range for this position is $82,348 to $113,719 annually. Position Summary Under the supervision of the Dean of Transitional Studies & Justice Involved Solutions (JIS), the Programs Director for Transitional Studies is a full-time appointment selected from a competitive process. The Programs Director plays a critical role in three areas: The I-BEST duties require the Programs Director to align with South Seattle's goal of supporting the transition of students from the Transitional Studies Division (TSD) into college-level programs. This position will work directly with I-BEST, ESL, and other Transitional Studies students as they progress along their educational pathways. This will include facilitating student recruitment and intake, outreach to faculty, and coordinating with community partners. The Programs Director will be a self-directed individual who provides encouragement, mentoring, educational planning, resource mapping and other support services to transitioning TSD students. This position requires familiarity with the needs of a diverse student populations with campus resources and systems. The incumbent must foster a positive and caring environment for current and prospective students. This is a 12-month position that requires some evening and off-site work in the community. The Programs Director also helps to develop new I-BEST Pathways and bridge programs and supports I-BEST and Bridge instructional teams. ORIA: Supervise and provide support to the Program Support Specialist managing the for managing ORIA (Office of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance) clients in the LEP (Limited English Proficiency) Pathway. The JIS duties require the Programs Director to provide critical administrative tasks, contract management, and oversight of JIS to increase the college's capacity to serve current and formerly incarcerated students as well as development of college and community collaborations that support the program goals. Ensuring that the JIS program is a core part of the College's persistence and completion strategy for justice involved students, the Programs Director will take a key leadership role for the program operations, budgeting, and resources to ensure program effectiveness and that performance expectations are met. This position is Full-time, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, primarily 9am to 5pm not including lunch break. What you will be working on: Administrator and Data Reporting: * Collaborate with Justice Involved staff on data collection and conduct program evaluation and reporting, and incorporate assessment results into planning and decisions that drive continuous service improvement * Build and maintain current information about available resources to housing, employment and assistance for formerly incarcerated students that will promote student retention, success, and completion of academic goals * Prepare material for contractual reporting and invoicing on grants and contracts Recruitment, Outreach, and Intake: * Serve as primary point of contact for transitioning ELL students considering I-BEST options or other college-level educational pathways * Provide direct assistance to students in the I-BEST intake process, including admission process, specific program requirements, registration, traditional and alternative sources of financial aid, payment, textbooks, residency or visa requirements, and other intake procedures * Maintain and build relationships with faculty for information sharing and student referrals * Maintain and build relationships with staff in student support programs and student services programs across the college, e.g., Counseling, Advising, TRIO, Welcome Center, Seattle Education Access, and Workforce funding program staff, for cross-referrals of services and program options * Maintain and build relationships with community agencies, high schools, and other district campuses for cross-referrals of services and program options * Develop and maintain outreach Educational Planning and Support: * Assist students in clarifying career, educational, and life goals while exploring college options when needed * Interpret basic skills and college assessments to determine appropriate educational pathways This description is not intended to cover every aspect of this job, we are a team that works together to meet the needs of those we serve, and every member of the team is expected to contribute, even beyond the specific responsibilities listed in this description. What you bring as a candidate: * Masters OR any combination of relevant education, training and experience that indicates successful performance of the essential functions of the position * Ability to transition between multiple work locations on a regular basis * Experience with outreach, marketing, and/or participant recruitment * Experience with successful cross agency collaboration * Knowledge of legal frameworks and business accounting procedures * A demonstrable record of promoting organizational growth through effective budget management * Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, and Word programs * Demonstrated multicultural skills and knowledge of social justice and gender equity framework * Demonstrated commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive environment for all students/clients and ability to work effectively with diverse populations * Experience working with under-represented students * Supporting students as they plan for certificate, degree, and transfer requirements * Managing several projects simultaneously, and meeting various deadlines * Working independently while also being an effective member of a team * Excellent writing and verbal communication skills * Ability to relate well to diverse, multicultural students, faculty, staff and the public in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner * Skilled in the use Microsoft Office and building databases * Willingness to work an alternate schedule as needed Preferred skills and qualifications: * Master's degree in counseling, education, student development or related field * Experience working with the criminal justice system or incarcerated populations * Experience working with ABE, I-BEST, and/or ESOL populations or programs * Minimum of 5 years' experience with career or educational advising of adult learners * Minimum of 5 years¿ experience working in a community or technical college setting * Minimum of 4 years¿ experience working with student services and/or human services * Experience teaching, I-BEST, College Success, English as a Second Language (ESL) and/or Adult Basic Education (ABE) Physical Demands and Disability Accommodation Persons with disabilities have the right to reasonable accommodation in all aspects of employment with Seattle Colleges.
