DIRECTOR OF SURVEILLANCE

Job Description: The Director of Surveillance is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the surveillance department, will oversee all aspects of the department and ensures compliance with all gaming regulations and company policies. Directs activities of the surveillance staff engaged in observing gaming and non-gaming activity throughout the property; successfully protect all the company assets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direction in the overall operation of assigned departments; to ensure the most efficient and profitable operation and the maintenance of high standards of quality and service. Provide administrative oversight to Surveillance through department manager.
  • Supervise and direct the day-to-day operations of areas of responsibility through assigned department directors, managers, and supervisors; counseling, guiding, and instructing them in the proper performance of their duties.
  • Establish and administer safety and maintenance policies and procedures, coordinating all operational activities of the sections to assure adherence to these policies and procedures.
  • Control expenses in assigned departments, check profit and loss statements regularly.
  • Develop written job descriptions and job procedures for all positions in the departments supervised and develop employee understanding.
  • Safeguard facility, casino patrons, employees, and casino assets.
  • Monitor facility and gaming activities for adherence to company policies.
  • Responsible for employee satisfaction in all assigned departments, working closely with Human Resources and taking corrective action as needed to maintain good morale.
  • Ensure the merit program is properly administered in the departments supervised and that periodic performance reviews are prepared for all assigned employees.
  • Plan, develop and implement revised procedures to improve the efficiency and profitability of assigned areas.
  • Coordinate, improve and recommend training programs; assure effective implementation of training programs.
  • Be aware of competitive operations (internal practices, gaming procedures, promotions) and recommend appropriate action.
  • Monitor financial performance of assigned departments against planned performance, taking action to improve performance where necessary.
  • Establish and maintain effective channels of communications with Division Agents, as well as upward, downward, and laterally on property.
  • Review all daily reports describing activities and incidents either involving Security personnel or observed by Surveillance personnel.
  • Maintain an updated knowledge of Gaming Laws/ Regulations applicable to surveillance, security, gaming, and money handling areas.
  • Ensure efficient policing of the premises, maintaining desired public order. Assure comfort and safety to patrons and protects the best interests of the property.
  • Cooperate with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and coordinates matters of mutual concern.

  • Assure that proper provisions are made for the security of cash funds transferred on the floor.
  • Establish and direct procedures used in the administration of assistance to customers injured on the property or requiring first aid, and handling employee on-the-job injuries. Ensure that all such incidents are fully investigated and reported.
  • Maintain and keep an up-to-date list of undesirables.
  • Ensure periodic checks are made concerning the adequacy and operability of alarm systems and emergency equipment. Maintain relationships with state and local fire safety officials relative to the foregoing.
  • Direct all activities of all concerned personnel and procedures regarding major emergencies and/or responses to criminal and civil violations.
  • Prepare regular and special reports; maintain necessary records and files.
  • Ensure that all assigned departments are staffed with competent personnel who (a) are delegated authority, (b) are compensated commensurate with ability and responsibility, (c) are provided with well-defined and understood lines of authority and (d) are continually being developed for advancement.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Conduct self always in a manner that reflects credit on property and encourage others to do the same.
  • May act as Managerial Representative on Premises.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a similar position, preferably in the gaming industry.
  • Previous management experience
