To learn more about Georgia Southern's Vision, Mission and Values please click here: https://president.georgiasouthern.edu/performance-excellence/mission-values/ Location Statesboro Campus - Statesboro, GA Department Information Institute for Coastal Plain Science Job Summary The Student Assistant will support the SEES Institute for Coastal Plain Science as a Undergraduate Research Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Spring 2025. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period. Responsibilities * Collect and process biological samples, including the identification of marine organisms, measurement and dissection of oysters, and processing water and sediment samples * Conduct chemical exposure experiments * Complete fieldwork in wet, muddy conditions * Perform laboratory research tasks, including previous work with oysters Shift Specifics * Up to 8 hours per week * Flexible with schedule of availability Required Qualifications Educational Requirements * Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education * Currently enrolled in a BS degree in Biological Sciences Preferred Experience * Experience with general lab equipment including stereoscopic microscopes, precision scales, digital balances, and ovens. * Experience and willingness to complete animal dissections. * Able to conduct field work under unfavorable conditions. Proposed Salary $12.00 per hour This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
