Description
Wagstaff manufactures equipment for aluminum producers, who process formed aluminum into parts and products you use every day.
Pay: $86,000- $129,000 annually, depending on experience
Job Summary
Manage shop floor production, including, but not limited to maximum utilization of available resources to meet production deadlines, and oversight of quality. Develop, document, and implement policies and procedures to maximize productivity, quality, and safety.
Primary Job Responsibilities
* Consult with lateral and upper management regarding planning, development, and maintenance of manufacturing facilities to ensure maximum utilization of machinery, space, and resources
* Perform management responsibilities related to recruitment, employee performance management, time sheet approvals, compensation management, etc.
* Evaluate production needs, and lead in the implementation of solutions, including the placement, development, analysis, testing, and modification of existing and new equipment
* Monitor and report work progress and propose corrective action to address problems and issues
* Consult with applicable departments to support product development and processes
* Ensure quality products and services are delivered in a timely manner
* Provide highly accurate status visibility to departments in order to minimize lost production time due to project-related issues
* Effectively communicate feedback to engineering or other departments with respect to systemic and trend-related issues in order to take corrective action and support continual improvement
* Provide effective and efficient inter-departmental solutions to known issues
* Utilize judgment to determine the appropriate level of involvement of department engineers, designers, and technicians necessary to resolve a broad range of issues
* Support and communicate with employees to ensure broad communication between shifts
* Ensure effective collaboration and communication with Demand Management regarding re-prioritization of tasks and schedules in support of the overall scheduling interests of Wagstaff
* Work cohesively with Purchasing, Stores, and other departments to efficiently resolve issues
* Ensure department business operations are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
* Promote and practice safety in all aspects of safety of production and non-production work centers
* Prepare, monitor, and administer the annual operational and capital budget plan
* Conduct company tours that highlight Wagstaff's strengths and engage with students from the community
* Maintain confidentiality and protect proprietary information
* In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required
* Other duties as assigned
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field, plus one (1) year experience, OR
* Associates degree in an Industrial Technology-related field, plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience in manufacturing and/or maintenance, OR
* Minimum of five (5) years manufacturing and / or maintenance experience with demonstrated, increasing levels of responsibility
* Extensive knowledge of manufacturing related to fabrication, CNC machining, and/or assembly
* ERP systems experience
* Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, motivate and coach others
* Must work independently, without supervision, exercising discretion and judgment
Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, work is performed primarily in an adequately lit, well ventilated, climate controlled general office environment. Close computer work is regularly required. The work usually involves minimal physical exertion. The noise level in the general office environment is usually moderate.
This job may require occasional or more frequent interaction with employees on the manufacturing shop floor. While on the shop floor, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of moving equipment and parts, and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment. Because of this environment and associated risks, coordination with shop floor managers/employees may be necessary before entering the shop floor, and use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required on the shop floor. The noise level on the shop floor is often loud.
