The First Judicial District of the Iowa Judicial Branch is seeking qualified candidates for immediate Court Reporter openings. Court Reporter positions are under the direction and supervision of the District Court Administrator as the Chief Judge's designee and can be assigned to report on proceedings with any judge in any county in the First Judicial District.    The starting salary for new State of Iowa Judicial employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. The pay range for this position is $28.52 - $46.54 per hour or $2281.60 - $3723.20 bi-weekly. Adjustments may be made if the successful applicant has relevant experience.   Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00A - 4:30P    Location: Decorah, Iowa, Winneshiek County   To Apply: Candidates will need to submit a cover letter and resume. The Iowa Judicial Branch is an E-Verify employer.    Key Responsibilities:   * Captures court testimony and proceedings with stenography machine * Reads back court testimony and proceedings upon request * Prepares transcripts, performs general office work * Marks and records exhibits during court proceedings * Performs related work as determined by Judge, Chief Judge or designee * Electronic document filing required in all counites within the District  * May be required to work for any Judicial Officer in the District per operational needs * Travel may be required * Court Reporter will purchase and maintain court reporting software and stenotype machines and/or verbatim recording equipment   What's in it for YOU:   * Team-oriented, positive work environment * Excellent affordable benefit package * Paid holidays plus vacation and sick time * Iowa Public Employees' Retirement System (IPERS) retirement plan * Optional retirement savings 457 plan with employer contributions * Employee discount programs This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Judicial Branch. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.      * Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency) and graduation from a school of court reporting. * Must be certified by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters within 12 months of employment, and certification must be maintained as a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications:   * Excellent communication skills * Strong computer skills including video conferencing (GTM/Zoom) * 10-key skills * Ability to adapt to situations with court personnel and the public * Passion for pursuing common goals in pursuit of public service
