Join our team as an Office Assistant 2 and play a vital role in supporting the Fairbanks Public Health Center and local communities! In this position, you'll engage in customer service, manage medical records and data, collaborate with healthcare providers and off-site clinics, and handle various administrative tasks. This position is located at 1025 W Barnette St, in Fairbanks, Alaska, known as the Golden Heart City for its warm hospitality, rich history, and cultural diversity. Fairbanks is almost centrally located within the state, nestled in the Tanana Valley of Interior Alaska and just 120 miles south of the Arctic Circle.
Fairbanks is the second-largest city in Alaska and is renowned for its northern lights, the midnight sun, and picturesque locations. Fairbanks offers a range of attractions and activities, from dog sledding and ice carving to hot springs and riverboat cruises.

One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).
Special Note:
"High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
Some position in this class may require skill in typing. Recruitment and selection may include this requirement.At the time of the interview, please provide the following:
* Three (3) professional references we may contact by phone, one (1) of which must be a current or former supervisor, if not already provided in the application.
* Current performance evaluation, if available.
* A copy of academic transcripts (unofficial are okay; please ensure that the institution name/URL is listed on the transcripts) is used to support that you meet the minimum qualification competencies.
If chosen for the position, the candidate will be required to provide the following items before employment:
* Proof of Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap), Mumps, Measles, Rubella (MMR), and Varicella immunizations.
* Proof of Hepatitis B (immunity or a signed declination statement).
* Annual influenza vaccination or a signed declination statement.
* Proof of Tuberculosis screening within the past 12 months.
* A copy of your current driver's license.
EDUCATION
To verify that education is being used to meet and/or support the required minimum qualifications/competencies, you must fill in the Education section of the application.
