Position Summary The Sr. Reservoir Engineer will be a member of the Asset development team located in Denver, CO or Houston, Texas. The Sr. Reservoir Engineer will assume a leadership role to optimize the development plans. The engineer will strive for continual improvement for the asset by providing detailed technical analysis, economic analysis and recommendations on development projects. This position operates under limited review while handling assignments of a broad scope and moderate to advanced difficulty. Essential Roles and Responsibilities * Develop correlations between geological and completion variables and well performance. * Integrate learnings with the goal to increase asset value for each drilling cycle. * Evaluate oil and gas reserves for all cases at mid-year and year-end. * Initiate reservoir studies of existing assets to determine completion and spacing improvements. * Incorporates advanced production analysis into workflow for well evaluation and forecasting purposes. * Analyze the asset with a holistic tool kit including rate or pressure transient analysis, volumetrics, analytical or numerical modeling and decline curve analysis. * Prepare and update asset business plans and budgets. * Coordinate the creation of AFE's to execute development plans. * Provide estimations of resource volumes and recoverable hydrocarbons using both probabilistic and deterministic volumetrics, EURs and recovery factors. * Strong Spotfire, Aries, and Fekete skills. Experience with simulation for development planning would be a large plus. * Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities. General Knowledge and Skills Strong reservoir engineering background. Is familiar with the basics of other specialties and/or disciplines. Takes initiative to maintain and increase technical knowledge through practical application and knowledge transfer. Understands important geological, petrophysical and geochemical properties for unconventional plays. Working knowledge of different completion types, designs and fluid systems. Proficient and strong ability to learn and apply new skills and technologies. Proficient and strong use and application of standard engineering principles and techniques including industry and company standards in assigned discipline. Computer/Software Applications Proficient and strong level of skill in Microsoft Office, including Excel. Effectively utilize Spotfire to increase analytical speed and efficiency. Proficient and strong knowledge of Aries or other economic evaluation software programs. Proficient and strong working knowledge of Combo Curve and/or advanced production data analysis tools. Proficient and strong working knowledge of analytical models in RTA and Welltest. Experience with industry/company software including Welltest, AVM, Wellview, Crystal Ball, Perform, Enverus. Experience with ArcPro and programming languages a plus. Numeric and Analysis Proficient and strong numeric and analytical skills. Ability to mine large data sets and establish bi-variable correlations. Transform bi-variable correlations to include multiple variables. Relate geology, completion and reservoir characteristics to identify improving well performance. Demonstrate ability to normalize data sets to parameters with established correlations. Demonstrate utilization of correlations for predictive purposes. Proficient and strong understanding of utilization of reserves including reserve life index (RLI), replacement ratio, finding and development costs (F+D). Understands the financial impact of reserves on the company income statement. Understands reserve and resource definitions and is up to date with the SM reserves manual. Understands incremental vs accelerated reserves as well as capital efficiency optimization. Easily construct economic sensitivities charts to variations in cost and price. Proficient and strong understanding of established policies, standards, and practices. Considers economic impacts when making decisions. Proficient and strong understanding of business drivers, performance measures and financial results. Proficient and strong understanding of economic principles, metrics, risks and how these apply to projects. Proficient and strong understanding and application of economic principles, economic evaluations, metrics, and risks. Has strong knowledge of industry. Proficient and strong knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations. Role-Specific Technical Knowledge & Skills Experience with development of a variety of unconventional resource plays. Command of fundamental reservoir engineering disciplines including decline curve analysis (DCA), rate transient analysis (RTA), volumetrics, recoveries, fluid behavior, simple analytical history matching, and flow regime identification. Proficient and strong understanding of Pressure-Temperatures phase diagrams for practical purposes. Proficient and strong understanding of probabilistic and deterministic methods. Can easily identify limitations in data set and range in certainty of results. Proficient and strong understanding principles of flow in porous media including capillary pressure, Darcy's law, and relative permeability. Familiar with core analysis and petro-physical evaluations. Proficient and strong knowledge / experience relating to relating to geochemistry, operations, geological interpretation, well data integration, petrophysics and seismic attributes.
