Support and encourage residents to entertain guests in their homes through catered functions and market the catering department to residents and staff. Provide general clerical support to Dining. Shift(s): areas as needed with various hours & days including some evenings and weekends. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: * Serve as a resource to residents and other customers by offering innovative recommendations for quality events and entertainment opportunities * Schedule events and prepare contracts * Delegate job duties to ensure functions are completed * Set up and breakdown events if and as needed * Be aware of cost and cost controls and charge appropriately * Provide administrative support to dining departments including filing, agenda coordination, material preparation and data entry. * Additional duties as assigned EQUIPMENT: * Computer, including Microsoft Office and other scheduling components * Telephones, calculators and general office equipment PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Must be able to stand for long periods of time depending on the event assignment * Must be able to be mobile for extended periods of time * Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds without assistance, 26+ pounds with manual or mechanical assistance REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY: * Strong communication skills-ability to communicate with staff at management level, verbally and in writing * Ability to work within a team to achieve common goals * Computer skills, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word * Flexibility with work schedule * Exemplary time management skills * Ability to work independently with minimal or no direct supervision DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY: * Ability to research and compile data upon request, knowledge of spreadsheets and reports REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * High School Diploma or Equivalency * One year experience in a catering organization DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * Experience working in a healthcare or retirement environment REQUIRED BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES: * Exceptional customer service skills and ability to develop good relationships with residents and guests * Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, both verbal and written * Ability to multi-task and pay meticulous attention to detail * Flexible and patient to meet the demands of event scheduling as they arise for both expected and unexpected events * Ability to anticipate needs and desires by listening closely to your clients
