SET THE COURSE

The Textile Designer is responsible for creating and maintaining textile designs for Tommy Bahama. Acts as a primary point person for the Art Department with Design. Oversees the flow of artwork into the dept. and assigns accordingly. Manages and mentors the CAD Designer working with the group.

BE THE ISLAND GUIDE

  • Integrates hand and computer skills to create original, unique textile designs covering all over prints, placement prints, embroideries and embellishments and woven fabric patterns including plaids, stripes and jacquards, including scanning and cleaning bought artwork, making repeats to factory standards encompassing and passing legal company requirements, meanwhile adhering to designer’s wishes.

  • Working across all Men’s and Women’s lines, understand, create and deliver design work in line with the brand identity while following each lines individual needs and deadlines.

  • Research and interpret print and textile trends appropriately for each line, providing research and original artwork for a seasonal print presentation, held by the art department to assist design.

  • Create original prints, using a variety of mixed media

  • Work proactively with all members of design, supporting and developing business relationships to ensure successful results at all levels of the product. Ability to turn around requests in a timely manner.

  • Acts as a primary contact for the Art Dept. with either men’s design or women’s design as assigned.

  • Manage and mentor CAD Designer reporting to them, oversee work and assign projects.

  • Set up and maintain binders of all prints, print names and numbers, including helping with the set up of an ongoing art archive system

  • Makes all art accessible to other parts of the company

ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE

  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Graphic Design or related field

  • 3-5 Years of experience in Textile Design, Graphic Design, or related.

  • Previous experience managing or leading another designer preferred.

  • A strong understanding of all aspects of copyright related to textile design, rework/ manipulate bought art to pass legal requirement of Tommy Bahama while adhering to designer’s wishes

  • Ability to manage multiple requests from a design department and build the schedule, direct work accordingly.

  • Advanced knowledge of Photoshop & Illustrator. Advanced knowledge of Ned Graphic’s. Working knowledge of all Microsoft office programs. Working knowledge of Flex PLM, Being able to interface all programs to work with each to ensure best outcome.

  • Strong understanding of all aspects of the commercial fabric printing and production process including repeats, factory limitations, color separations, fabric limitations

  • A professional ‘can-do’ attitude with a common sense approach to problem solving, being flexible and practical with task management and with an ability to work under pressure and within time-scales

  • Must be highly organized, meet deadlines and be able to handle multiple projects.

  • Have excellent communication skills.

Multiple factors will vary the applicable rate of pay for this role, including an individual’s experience, knowledge, and skillset, as well as work location and available budget.

Rate Range: $63,760 - $106,266 annually
