Position Highlights |
The Department of Africana Studies, within the School of International Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (SILLC) of the College of Humanities, at the University of Arizona invites applicants for a Career Track Assistant Professor of Practice position with expertise in Hip-Hop Studies and Film (including Hip-Hop Cinema), from any region of the world beginning August 2025. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2025. This is a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal, contingent on satisfactory performance review, funding, and departmental needs. We are particularly interested in a candidate with a history of excellent teaching experience in all modalities (in-person, online, hybrid), and sound familiarity with multi-media teaching technologies and platforms. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to student success and engagement, including actively recruiting undergraduate majors in Africana Studies. The successful candidate must be able to teach introductory and upper-level classes in Africana Studies (including large enrollment classes); contribute to program building; develop and teach courses in the University’s General Education curriculum. The review date is April 25, 2025; applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
