The Department of Chemistry in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Chemistry Reseach Scientist. About the Opportunity The incumbent will be working on federally funded research, including writing manuscripts to be submitted for peer review and corresponding with collaborators. WVU Research Corporation offers a comprehensive benefits package with a variety of options to suit your needs: * 13 paid holidays (staff holiday calendar) * Paid Time off (PTO) * 403(b) retirement savings with a fully vested 3% employee contribution match, (Employees have the option of contributing an additional 1-3% of their earnings to the plan, which is also matched by the WVURC) * A range of health insurance and other benefits * Dependent Education Scholarship * WVU Perks What You'll Do * Carry out experimental laboratory research using Popp laboratory and Department of Chemistry shared equipment. * Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals. * Work collaboratively with graduate students on their research projects. * Master's degree with significant relevant experience or PhD degree with no post-degree job experience. * A minimum of three (3) years of experience involving graduate (PhD) research training or equivalent industry experience. * Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered. * All qualifications must be met by the time of employment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Demonstrated ability to work independently on experimental chemistry projects, analyze data acquired, and convey research in written and verbal form. * Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, to respond promptly to email requests/questions, to work effectively with virtual meeting software (eg., Zoom).
