Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Responsibilities: This research position is in the lab of Dr. Regina Rowe in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Infectious Diseases. The lab focuses on how allergic diseases such as asthma, eczema, and allergic rhinitis impact antiviral responses by human innate immune cells. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: ordering lab materials and reagents, organization of the laboratory, purification of primary human immune cells, media preparation and cell culture, virus propagation and cell infections, preparation and staining of cells for flow cytometry, and other basic molecular and cell biology techniques as indicated for given experiments. Responsibilities: To provide technical support and execution of experiments to better understand the impact of allergy on antiviral immune responses. Specific duties will include but are not limited to: * Isolation of primary human immune cells from human blood. * Perform cell culture of primary cells and cell lines including virus infections. * Preparation of cells and staining for flow cytometry analysis. Compensate and analyze imaging flow cytometry data. * Other molecular and cell biology techniques: Enzyme-linked immunoassays (ELISA), western blotting, isolation of RNA and DNA, and PCR. * General lab maintenance including ordering and organization. Other duties as assigned. * Participate in regular lab meetings, including presentations and regular (weekly) meetings with Dr. Rowe. Qualifications: Associate's degree in appropriate discipline plus 2-3 years specialized experience in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: BA/BS degree in the biological sciences is preferred. Prior laboratory experience and familiarity with general biological techniques - making solutions/buffers, sterile techniques, cell culture methods, and basic molecular biology techniques is desired. Candidate must have excellent command of oral and written English language, strong interpersonal skills, and be able to work in a collaborative team environment. Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are necessary. Candidate should be highly organized and detail/documentation oriented.
