This position is located within the Hearings Division of the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) and requires a variety of paralegal work assisting two Administrative Law Judges. This employee performs a wide variety of paralegal functions including drafting legal documents, gathering information, responding to motions, organizing data and research, and reviewing proposed orders and decisions. Organization skills and attention to detail are essential to this position.    This employee independently establishes an overall plan for scheduling, managing, and maintaining the Judges' monthly dockets, including meeting multiple deadlines, organizing calendars, and filing pleadings. This employee is responsible for oral and written communications among the Administrative Law Judges, litigants, agency staff, and attorneys. This employee is the primary individual responsible for pre-hearing preparation of contested cases and drafts orders for ALJ review.   This employee must demonstrate the ability to master OAH procedures, including working knowledge of OAH purposes and objectives, the Administrative Procedure Act (under which OAH operates), and the general duties and responsibilities of a paralegal for two Administrative Law Judges. This employee must have the ability to draft and edit orders, to communicate clearly and logically in oral and written form, sound writing skills including correct grammar and spelling, and correct usage of legal citations. This employee must also organize and manage significant contested case dockets and schedules for two judges while maintaining effective professional relationships with all parties in contested case proceedings, including unrepresented litigants. Salary will be based on education, experience, equity, and budget as well as current salary administration guidelines REPOST * Experience drafting legal documents and editing such documents for grammar, spelling, and citation errors * Experience in specialized paralegal work in a variety of programs areas * Experience using a variety of legal resources and materials to find and analyze applicable statutes, cases and rules Graduation from an appropriately accredited institution for paralegal training; or Bachelor s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of substantive paralegal experience; or High school or General Education Development (GED) diploma and five years of paralegal experience performing delegated, substantive legal work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
