The Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric, diagnostic, and therapeutic service in a mental health clinic and/or inpatient psychiatric facility.
Completion of an accredited medical school; licensed to practice in the State of Alabama; completed accredited residency program in Psychiatry; board eligible or certified; community health orientation; provides evidence of malpractice insurance and renewals of insurance (limits of liability $1,000,000 - $3,000,000) through a company licensed or approved by the state.
Supervisory Responsibilities: • None.
Duties/Responsibilities: Provides and directs the general medical care of Center clients.
Provides physician assessments to clients individually or conjointly in order to assess their functioning, establish a diagnosis and prescribe any indicated chemotherapy and treatment recommendations.
Approves and signs required documents authorizing / directing treatment on an initial basis and thereafter in accordance with programmatic requirements.
Signs required state, federal, and third party billing authorization forms.
Documentation is properly and promptly completed.
Is available, during regular work hours, to assist in emergency assessments and interventions with clients.
Is available, after hours, to the Medical Director, Clinical Director and/or the Executive Director for telephone consultation of emergency situations.
Notifies Medical Director of deficiencies in clinical services/procedures of therapists and assists in developing corrective actions.
Provides consultation with clinical staff to assist in assessing clients’ needs, establishing a diagnostic impression, developing treatment plans and /or referral recommendations.
Maintains and provides liaison and education for the Center, other community agencies, and the general public.
Serves as a resource and assists as needed in staff training. Consultation and Education presentations are presented in an effective professional manner.
Presentations are accurately targeted toward audience.
Effectively serves as a positive advocate for mental health services in the area.
Maintains CME hours as required by Licensing Board.
Completes any other duties, clinical or non-clinical, as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Executes these duties and responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner.
These additional duties will be treated with the same importance in relation to confidentiality and priority as other duties and responsibilities.
