The Assistant Director of Multicultural and Community Engagement will oversee the college, high school and community engagement activities to ensure the voices of diverse, marginalized, low-income citizens are heard and reflected in College resources and activities. The Assistant Director of Admissions for Multicultural and Community Engagement represents Monroe County Community College at college fairs and high school/community college recruitment visits and assists prospective students and their parents navigate the admission process, academic programs, financial aid and scholarships, student organizations and activities.
This is a grant-funded position.• Cultivates relationships and partnerships with community-based and education organizations. Engages with internal and external diversity-related organizations and government agencies that support the College's diversity strategy and assists in the development of internal networks and in providing effective means of communicating diversity initiatives throughout the College.
* Initiates and maintains contact with high school students, counselors, and other school administrators through individual and group interactions. Develops and implements recruitment and communication strategies designed to increase the number of students enrolling from an underrepresented region/location, plans and implements successful recruitment events and high school visits, analyzes the recruitment plan for the assigned area, and exercises fiscal responsibility in using budget resources related to travel expenses.
* Coordinates and attends recruitment events to build a diverse recruitment pipeline on and off campus.
* Contributes to the achievement of College enrollment and recruitment goals and objectives by representing Monroe County Community College at college fairs and high school/community college recruitment visits; assisting prospective students and their parents regarding admission requirements, academic programs, financial aid and scholarships, student organizations, and activities; assisting with the development of marketing materials used for admissions and recruitment; responding to written, phone, email, and in-person inquiries; meeting with visiting students and parents; making formal presentations and planning activities and events, both on and off-campus, for prospective students/families and high school counselors. Creates new markets by identifying populations for outreach and developing and implementing activities and programs to increase college visibility.
* Analyzes data and market trends to determine actions that will maximize yield rates. Develops project timelines and utilizes customer relationship management (CRM) software to track outcomes of assigned programs of interest and events, complies reports based on established targets for the assigned recruitment strategy and key programs of interest, and analyzes institutional recruitment data as well as data from testing services to target recruitment efforts for successful enrollment outcomes.
* Assists the Director of Enrollment Management with the development and implementation of recruitment and communication strategies for underrepresented students that integrate with the overall recruitment plan for the College, operating within budget limits, completing tasks and assignments for strategic initiatives, and providing timely and relevant reports regarding measurable outcomes and goals. Develops marketing and communication content for diverse student populations, including adult learners, marginalized and low-income students, and international students.
* Communicates College information to prospective students from the inquiry stage through matriculation
* Collaborates with various College stakeholders.
* Assists with day-to-day functions of the Admissions Office and other duties as necessary.
* Acts as Enrollment Management Director in their absences.
* Executes responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws and the College's policies, which includes the Code of Ethics.
* Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
* Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contact with colleagues, attending professional development seminars, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the Vice President.
* Assists with meeting enrollment, recruitment, and student service objectives of the College by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Enrollment Management.
* Master's degree required.
* Three years of progressive experience in higher education student services.
* Student services with a focus on diverse student populations preferred
* Knowledge working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and customer relationship management (CRM) software, preferably TargetX (Salesforce) preferred
* Ability to speak fluently preferred
