Position Title ITS Student Technician Posting Number Division Information Technology Services Department Information Technology Services Location Erie, Pa Position Summary Career Readiness Learning Objectives: Communication - The Student Technician will communicate in a clear and organized manner. This competency covers the strong communication skills required to interact effectively with the Gannon community while providing technical support and following directions. Critical Thinking - The Student Technician will gather and analyze information from a diverse set of sources to make sound decisions and solve problems while supporting the technology needs of clients in person, over the phone, or via remote interaction with the client's computer. This competency relates to the ability to resolve IT support requests effectively, demonstrate resourcefulness, and independently tackle technical issues faced by the Gannon community. This entry level position is great for developing customer service and technical skills. Duties include assisting clients to resolve issues with basic technology needs via phone, email, or in person. Candidates should be friendly, comfortable helping others, and demonstrate a willingness to learn. Training is provided on everything you need to know in order to perform the job successfully. * Provide assistance by phone and email to students, faculty and staff with basic IT support related to Wi-Fi, Internet, FortiNAC scans, software, password resets and general IT assistance. * Ability to follow step by step instructions in knowledge base articles. * Document all details of the interaction in the ticketing software you will be trained to use * Maintain a clean and tidy work space and assist with office duties and errands as required. * The time commitment for this position is a minimum 10 hours per week. Up to 20 hours available per week. Required Qualifications * Current undergraduate student in good academic standing. * Familiarity with computers, software applications, Gannon educational software. * Good communication skills. Active listener. Dependable and able to follow directions. Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands * Position requires sitting for the majority of the shift, typing, making and receiving phone calls to provide client support. * Occasional lifting required (up to 50 lbs.) moving computers, delivering paper to copiers etc. Posting Detail Information Number of Vacancies 10 Job Posting Open Date 07/29/2024 Job Posting Close Date 12/01/2024 Special Instructions to Applicants REQUIRED: PLEASE INCLUDE A COPY OF YOUR CLASS SCHEDULE WITH YOUR APPLICATION.
