Job Description
General Functions
This is a professional Corrections position that requires good communication, conflict management and problem-solving, time management, initiative and accountability, professionalism, integrity and good judgment. Assigned duties require attention to detail, and effective oral and written communication skills.
Work is performed under the general supervision of a supervisor or designee. Performance is evaluated on accuracy, efficiency and achievement of desired results.
Representative Duties/Assignments
Duties may vary based on area of assignment.
Community Corrections
* Contact with offenders.
* Conducts interview sessions with specific emphasis on goal oriented and socially accepted behavior.
* Monitors, investigates, and/or enforces offender adherence to program requirements.
* Facilitates adherence to drug testing requirements.
* Attends and participates in court hearings.
* Analyzes documentation and makes recommendation regarding sentencing.
* Provides referral information (e.g. vocational, educational and social services).
* Prepares written documentation, correspondence or case documentation.
* Assists in the development and delivery of targeted programing for offenders/inmates.
* Communicates with criminal justice partners.
* Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with Agency General Contract.
* Access, obtains and verifies offender information via multiple criminal justice information systems.
* Administers risk assessments to evaluate risk of reoffending, in an effort to assign to appropriate supervision level.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Professional work experience in counseling, criminal justice or social services may be substituted for up to two years of the required education on a year for year basis.In Lieu of the degree requirements, additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year for year basis
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver License by date of hire.
Preferences
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice, Corrections, Psychology, Social Sciences or a closely related field.

Pay Grade: 014 - From $22.51 to $29.26

Selected candidate will be required to successfully complete the pre-employment drug, physical and background check.
Qualified applicants will be required to participate and pass an assessment for the Community Corrections Officer position as determined by the Corrections Department. The test dates are tentatively scheduled for February 11, 2025. This is a tentative date and may be subject to change.
