The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Laboratory Medicine, is seeking a Researcher IV. The hired candidate will provide bioinformatics support for a wide variety of research projects including genomic analyses, epigenomics, single cell sequencing, and spatial transcriptomics as well as partake in a wide breadth of biomedical research. General Responsibilities * Working with a high degree of independence, to oversee projects within the laboratory and to assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of lab activities. * To collect, enter, summarize, analyze and interpret data. * To contribute significantly to the planning/design of studies and to help develop long or short-term goals. Key Duties & Responsibilities * Conducts rigorous and original science. * Independently designs, performs, and interprets experiments. * Basic molecular techniques. * Skilled in NGS, including sample and library preparation. * Windows, LINUX, experience in working on high computing clusters. * High throughput data. * Analysis of genomics, transcriptomic, epigenomic and interactome data analysis. * Single cell sequencing, methylome. * Experience in working with Bioinformatic tools and multi-omics databases. * R, AWK and shell scripting. * Writes and publishes high-quality peer-reviewed research. * Participates in grant writing. * Supervises and trains undergraduate or graduate trainees and/or technicians. * Conduct rigorous and original science. * Perform other duties as assigned Salary Range: $47,486.40- $48,000 Qualifications Doctorate in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Bachelor s degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in related field and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Preferences * Degree in Bioinformatics. * Ability to collaborate on multidisciplinary research projects. * Strong motivation and ability to independently drive research projects. * A strong publication record and excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ambition to reach the next career level with a team player philosophy.
