Who We Are
Verily is a subsidiary of Alphabet that is using a data-driven approach to change the way people manage their health and the way healthcare is delivered. Launched from Google X in 2015, our purpose is to bring the promise of precision health to everyone, every day. We are focused on generating and activating data from a variety of sources, including clinical, social, behavioral and the real world, to arrive at the best solutions for a person based on a comprehensive view of the evidence. Our unique expertise and capabilities in technology, data science and healthcare enable the entire healthcare ecosystem to drive better health outcomes.
Description
We are looking for a talented and passionate designer to lead the way in growing and maintaining our Verily Design System (VDS). VDS is the set of atomic styles, components, patterns, and templates that power all of Verily's products for professionals in healthcare and life sciences.
In this highly collaborative role, you'll work closely with product, engineering, design, content, and accessibility specialists to grow and improve our design system. We believe that professionals, even those in highly technical fields, deserve the same level of care, attention to detail, beauty, and delight in their software experiences that consumers do. You'll play a pivotal role in making that happen, while also driving consistency, interoperability, and efficiency for Verily's designers and engineers.
This is an individual contributor role on our Platform UX team, a group of designers, researchers, and content strategists supporting Verily's Precision Health Platform.
Please include a portfolio in online or PDF format when applying. Make sure to include a password if applicable.
Responsibilities
* Lead the design of our styles, UI components, patterns, and templates, including documentation, demos, and other resources that facilitate adoption.
* Help define the strategy and governance approach for growing and maintaining VDS, partnering closely with engineering and product leads.
* Lead a broad community of VDS contributors, including illustrators, content designers, accessibility specialists, brand designers, and external vendors.
* Drive continuous improvement and innovation in visual design, usability, and the utility of VDS, including incorporating best practices from design systems across industries.
* Work with our engineering team to ensure designs are implemented effectively, and collaborate with them to find creative solutions when technical challenges arise.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Graphic Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or related field with 6+ years of professional experience in enterprise software, consumer products, medical devices or other relevant areas.
* An outstanding portfolio of thoughtfully designed products, demonstrating work across the end-to-end design process, from developing strong conceptual foundations to refining the smallest details with clear rationale.
* Prior experience building, maintaining, or extensively contributing to design systems. Deep expertise in Figma and other relevant toolkits, as well as the technical intricacies of designing accessible, responsive web applications.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with proven success working and aligning with cross-functional stakeholders such as product managers, researchers, and software engineers.
Preferred qualifications
* M.S./M.A./M.F.A. or other advanced degree in a relevant field.
* Past work that focuses on Enterprise products, Healthcare, Medical services, or other relevant areas.
* Experience designing rich data visualizations, complex professional tools, flexible enterprise platforms, AI utilities, or related design solutions.
