We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Reservoir Enginner in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), Rockies Business Unit based in Denver, CO. The Reservoir Engineer will work within the Rockies Net Zero Development Team, and will be working with engineers (several disciplines), geologists, geophysicists, and IGT/business development to generate business strategies and commercial recommendations that support the Oxy's Net Zero goals. The Candidate will also collaborate with HSE, Land, Regulatory, Air Quality, Supply Chain and Rockies Development Teams to ensure business unit alignment. Engineering responsibilities include, but are not limited to: familiarity with reservoir modelling & simulation, economic evaluations, resource assessments, designing field and project development plans, well forecasting, emissions estimations and forecasting. Roles and Responsibilities: * Net Zero Development: Work with multi-disciplinary team to assist in concept generation, early scoping, and recommending projects that help support and achieve Oxy's Net Zero goals. Developing and supporting projects that progress the Rockies BU's Goals of achieving Net Zero by 2050 or earlier. * Technical Project Management: Project lead for select Net Zero projects. Develop and coordinate project technical and/or commercial evaluations, and deliverables. * Concept Development and Screening: Blend creativity with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to make robust technical and economically sound recommendations with incomplete or uncertain information. * Budget, Planning, and Emissions: Assist in developing and managing various budget and planning exercises for net zero projects as they progress from concept through execution phases including: forecasting annual budgets, developing commercial/business plans, working with portfolio and long-term planning to ensure alignment with BU, evaluation of emissions impacts and emissions forecasting, etc. Support additional corporate planning and business development evaluations as necessary. * Reservoir Engineering: Work with subsurface teams to integrate various reservoir studies including geo-modelling, reservoir modelling/simulation, geochemistry, PVT, petrophysics, production performance, pressure transient tests, and other data to evaluate Rockies Net Zero projects including geothermal, critical minerals, conventional EOR, unconventional EOR, and CCS (Carbon Capture and Sequestration). Design and recommend new workflows and technologies to evaluate and characterize new opportunities relevant to each unique project. * Technical Presentations / Memos: Prepare technical and commercial presentations and documents for delivery to asset team, management, partners, and regulatory agencies. Presentations will include subsurface technical evaluations, economic evaluations with business plan recommendations, drilling and resource development recommendations, trade/acquisition evaluations, post-appraisals, new project/concept screening for Net Zero projects. * Team Oriented Mindset: Ability, willingness, and proven track record of teaching/mentoring junior staff. Required Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Competencies: * Minimum 5 years relevant engineering experience required. * Solid understanding of reservoir engineering technical fundamentals. * Strong background in developing technical and/or commercial models with relevant sensitivities for a range of projects to support business plan recommendations. * Proficiency in performing statistical studies and incorporating analogue data to support scoping technical and economic evaluations. * Proficiency or willingness to learn engineer modelling software including CMG, Eclipse, Intersect, tNav, STARS, or related software & workflows. * Candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with field operations, technical peers, central function teams in Houston, and management. * Unconventional/Shale, Conventional O&G, EOR, and/or Exploration experience preferred. * Working knowledge of Spotfire or Power BI is a plus. Education Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in O&G related Engineering required. Certifications/Licenses Valid driver's license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle. Relocation This position may be eligible for relocation. Travel Requirements The percentage of travel required for this position is 0-10%. Salary Range Discretionary Bonus $136,800 - $188,100 0-50% * Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements may receive consideration for higher-level role given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs.
