The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at South Dakota Mines seeks an exceptionally talented systems biologist to be appointed at the level of Research Scientist III with the Meta-Omics Lab. This is a benefited position with 81% effort. The recruited Research Scientist is expected to apply his/her analytical, biological, polymer and computational skills. The work will require participation in a range of activities, including (1) The ability to collect and analyze multi-omics data; (2) use the scientific literature to generate and examine cross-disciplinary and cross-cutting research questions related to metabolic/process modeling; and (3) mentor and provide hands-on training to other team members to accomplish project goals. In addition, the candidate will also be encouraged to work with PI to identify additional (project) opportunities to support their scientific and professional development. Above all, ideal candidates should be creative problem-solver and may perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned directed by the supervisor. Preference will be given to candidates with prior knowledge and research interest in Advanced biomanufacturing and Biomaterials/biomolecules.
Candidates will have an earned doctorate in Computational Biology, Chemistry, Chemical and Biological Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline at the appointment time. The successful applicant should have an excellent publication record in relevant fields.
The desired start date is January 2025.
