The successful candidate will contribute heavily to the simulation efforts of the Warfighter Systems Integration Lab by writing Unreal Engine 5 individual blueprints, materials or assets in general, and by optimizing overall engine functions to improve the spatial and temporal resolution of the simulation. This is a paid internship and has a start date of mid-May and ends in mid-late August 2025. About the role - you'll need to: * Design Blueprints, Materials, Levels or generic assets for VR in UE5 * Test and debug features * Explore and improve overall settings of the engine to optimize performance. * Produce documentation for replicability. * Come up with algorithms for data collection and visualization. * Integrate external services in python or other convenient languages. * Work closely with electrical and systems engineers About you - you'll need: * Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in Software Engineering/Computer Science etc. (second year or more) * Experience with Unreal Engine 5 * Understanding of Lighting, performance and other engine features. * Familiarity with blueprint programming. * C++ a plus * Blender a plus * Comfortable working with fire weapon replicas and combat simulation THE TEAM You will work closely with an accomplished leader with significant industry experience and be the SME on a team of passionate and driven individuals who are making a difference for our modern-day war fighters, law enforcement, and EMS.
