Job Title: Communications Specialist Salary Range: $60,000-77,000 About the Position The Communications Specialist is part of the Marketing & Communications team. This role will primarily focus on copywriting and content development for external audiences across various communication channels and implementing effective public relations and media relations strategies. The Communications Specialist, plays a pivotal role in enhancing Evergreen Goodwill's brand image, raising awareness about our programs and initiatives, and engaging with our stakeholders through compelling content and strategic media outreach. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Copywriting: Create engaging and persuasive copy for a range of communication channels, including website content, social media posts, blog articles, email newsletters, press releases, speeches and marketing collateral. Adhere to writing style guide. Ensure consistency in tone, style, and messaging across all written materials. Collaborate with internal teams, including program managers, marketing, and design, to gather information and produce written deliverables that effectively communicate our mission and impact. Provide proofreading support to larger MarCom team Create communications tools including fact sheets and scripts that can be used across the organization. Conduct thorough research to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices for effective copywriting. Public Relations and Media Relations: In collaboration with the Sr. Director of Marketing & Communication, develop and implement strategic PR and media relations plans to enhance the organization's visibility and reputation. Maintain media lists and build relationships with media outlets, journalists, influencers, and other key stakeholders. Draft and distribute press releases, media alerts, and other media materials to promote events, initiatives, and success stories. Act as a spokesperson for the organization, liaising with the media and coordinating media interviews and appearances. Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on media trends, the organization's reputation and earned media outcomes. Maintain and execute the organization's crisis communication plan in collaboration with Communications Manager and Sr. Director of Marketing and Communication Content Development & Management: Provide support in updating and creating new content for the website, ensuring it is up to date, accurate, and engaging. Coordinate and maintain an editorial content calendar in partnership with other MarCom team members and stakeholders to plan and schedule content across various platforms. Collaborate with Digital Brand Specialist to develop engaging content for social media platforms that represents our brand, reinforces key messages and helps reach new audiences. Work with Marketing & Communications Coordinator to monitor and respond to comments and inquiries on social media channels and other online platforms. Track and analyze engagement metrics to optimize content performance and make data-driven recommendations for improvement. Proven experience in copywriting, preferably in the nonprofit sector or a similar field. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail and grammar. Demonstrated experience in crafting compelling and persuasive content for diverse audiences and communication channels. Experience in public relations, media relations, or corporate communications. Ability to build and maintain relationships with media contacts and stakeholders. Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems. Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong research skills and ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise messaging. Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations: N/A Computer/Technology Skills: Proficiency in using tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, content management systems, and media monitoring platforms. Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job. Physical Abilities: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required sit for long periods of time, communicate with other employees by talking and hearing, required to lift and carry items weighing up to 15 pounds and to operate computer systems. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.
