Title: Assistant Attorney General, Employment Unit State Role Title: Assistant Attorney General Hiring Range: Commensurate with Experience Pay Band: UG Agency: Attorney General & Dept of Law Location: Office of the Attorney General Agency Website: www.oag.state.va.us Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties The successful candidate will defend the Commonwealth, its agencies and officials in state and federal courts, with a focus on employment-related claims. The representation will include drafting pleadings and briefs, conducting all aspects of discovery, overseeing investigations, providing advice to clients throughout the course of litigation, making court appearances, handling all aspects of a trial, and may also include appellate work. Minimum Qualifications * Admission to the Virginia State Bar required. * The position requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in time management, and the ability to work independently and as a team member. * Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and adjust priorities without close supervision.\ * A demonstrated proficiency in client counseling and in providing training on employment matters is also desirable. * Occasional overnight travel will be required. * This position presents an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the right candidate to be part of a dynamic team and to perform a valuable public service.
