TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION DEPARTMENT OF NEUROBIOLOGY NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY The Department of Neurobiology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University seeks to recruit a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025. We are particularly interested in candidates working in the areas of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Neuroscience whose research uses innovative approaches in service of addressing fundamental questions relating to the development and function of the nervous system. Areas of interest include (but are not limited to) genomics, gene regulation and epigenetics, specification of neuronal identity, synapse formation and function, circuit wiring, development, and aging-preferably in the context of whole-animal nervous system function and behavior. Applicants holding a Ph.D. and/or an M.D. degree and demonstrating an outstanding record of scientific achievement will be considered. The candidates should demonstrate significant potential for innovation, scholarship, and commitment to excellence in both research and teaching. Successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain a high-profile research program with substantial extramural funding, teach undergraduate courses, and contribute to university service.

The appointee will join a broad, interactive community including colleagues in the Interdepartmental Neuroscience program consisting of over 130 faculty drawn from the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, the McCormick School of Engineering, the School of Communication, the Feinberg School of Medicine, the Manne Children's Research Institute, and the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, with interactions fostered by numerous institutes and centers including the Chemistry of Life Processes Institute, Querrey Simpson Institute for Bioelectronics, the Center for Advanced Molecular Imaging, the National Institute for Theory and Mathematics in Biology, the Photo-Sciences Research Center, the Center for Genetic Medicine, the Institute for Complex Systems, the Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer's Disease Center, the Center for Reproductive Science, the Simpson Querrey Institute for Epigenetics, the Center for Sleep and Circadian Biology, and the Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Salary
The expected base pay range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000.
This base pay range is for a nine-month academic appointment, does not include summer salary, and is subject to negotiation.

The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
