Position Description:
We are seeking a motivated Summer Intern to join our team in developing, integrating, and testing advanced Satellite Communication (SATCOM) terminal solutions. You will collaborate with experienced engineers to design and implement cutting-edge SATCOM technologies across multiple business units within Intelsat. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and innovative field, contributing to the future of global communications.
Job Responsibilities:
You will benchmark and validate new multi-orbit terminals in support of Intelsat’s terminal product strategy and roadmap. Key responsibilities include assisting in terminal use case validation, conducting performance tests, and troubleshooting technical issues. This is a unique opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge with satcom virtualized modem integration and testing. Deliverables include benchmarking NGSO satcom terminals, optimizing terminal data collection scripts and visualizing terminal data sets.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience and/or interest in the following areas:
- Electrical and mechanical engineering design principles (i.e. RF, structural and thermal)
- Computer programming software used for task automation, data analysis, and data visualization (i.e. Python).
- Creating presentations for the purposes of communicating progress and summarizing terminal test reports (i.e. PowerPoint & Excel)
12 Week Schedule:
- Week 1-3: Orientation and Intro to technologies, review product portfolio and roadmap at Intelsat. Identify and create a plan for the various satcom terminals that will be evaluated during the internship.
- Week 4-6: Start testing the various satcom terminals and developing the various software scripts for automation, data collection and visualization.
- Week 7-10: Optimize the various test scripts and apply to new terminals if available.
- Week 10-12: Create terminal test reports and internship presentation.
Minimum Requirements:
- Eligible candidates must be one of the following:
- Part-time or full-time students who have completed 24+ credit hours (rising sophomores/juniors/seniors) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university; Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
- May 2025 graduate
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
- Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite
- 3.0 GPA or above preferred
Summer Intern Program Description:
- Paid; 12 weeks starting on Monday, May 26, 2025 through August 15, 2025
- Schedule - 40 hours/week, Monday- Friday, 9 – 5 or regular core hours
- Hybrid environment (minimum 3 days in office location)
