Tuesday - Thursday 11:45 AM - 8:15 PM
Friday - Saturday, 8:45 AM - 5:15 PM (40 hours / week)
Job Summary
Works under the supervision of the makerspace librarian, and plays an integral role in the library's team, to successfully implement public services, policies, procedures and programs in accordance with the library's mission.
Assists librarian with developing and presenting programs and services for various age groups and abilities to offer formal classes or drop-in learning sessions on various subjects across age groups and abilities. Examples include, but are not limited to: STEAM programming, making, tinkering, coding, computer programming, 3D printing, crafting, sewing, knitting and other hands-on art projects.
Familiarity with technologies and equipment including, but not limited to: 3D printers, engravers, laser and vinyl cutters, desktop computer, laptop, iMac, iPads, gaming consoles, audiovisual equipment, creative design hardware, various hand tools, sewing machines and other specialty items.
Ability to use specialty software for technologies and equipment in the Makerspace and Digital Lab. Examples include, but are not limited to: Adobe, Apple, Microsoft, audio, creative design software, video and podcasting software, as well as proprietary platforms that accompany specific devices.
Enforces safety protocols and assesses cost-recovery fees on patron accounts for all consumables.
Strong focus on making, arts and crafts, customer service, technology experience and teamwork. Requires the application of elementary principles of library and information sciences. A complete job description is available upon request.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one (1) or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
