Are you passionate about making a positive impact in your community and promoting public safety? Linn County is seeking a dedicated and motivated Adult Parole and Probation Officer to join our team in Albany, OR.
* Note: this position will receive a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increase of 6.55% which is not reflected in the salary listed in this posting. The effective date of the increase is January 1, 2025, for February 1, 2025, paychecks.
About the Job - Your Role
As an Adult Parole and Probation Officer you will manage felony parole and probation correctional cases. You will assess the needs of those on parole or probation assigned by the courts or Board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision. You will identify services to support those on parole or probation with their rehabilitation and readjustment into society. You will monitor their behavior and ensure compliance with their case plan. You will investigate and take appropriate action to address supervision violations as needed.
This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill multiple vacancies.
This position is represented by the Federation of Oregon Parole and Probation Officers.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree; AND two (2) years of experience working in a Criminal Justice setting; or two (2) years in a social service, counseling, or case management program with primary responsibility for guiding or counseling individuals in the solution of occupational, educational, personal or social problems; OR
Successful completion of two (2) academic years (90 quarter hours or the equivalent) from an accredited college or university; AND three (3) years of experience working in a Criminal Justice setting; OR three (3) years in a social service, counseling or case management program with primary responsibility for guiding or counseling individuals in the solution of occupational, educational, personal or social problems.
Employees are required to receive certification by the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training in Basic Probation and Parole within eighteen months of hire.
Employees must maintain an appropriate Oregon State driver license to drive a vehicle in usual and emergency situations.
Employees must maintain a qualifying score with duty firearm(s) if they are authorized to carry them for duty.
Requested Skills
* Experience with performing assessments, case planning, and/or behavior change plans for those on parole and probation.
* Prior professional experience with testifying in court or writing reports.
* Prior field work as it relates to case management.
* Ability to obtain and maintain certification on the Law Enforcement Data (LEDS).
Special Qualifications
* Meet DPSST Physical Standards
* Satisfactorily complete an ODOC background investigation OAR 259-008-0015
* Have a history of law-abiding behavior OAR 259-008-0070
* Pass a psychological evaluation and risk assessment as required by HB 2936

Preference will be given to applicants with experience and education related to community corrections, criminal justice, or law enforcement.

Please include in your response any evidence-based practices utilized.
* List and explain in detail your experience investigating and taking appropriate action to address various types of violations in a parole/probation, criminal justice, or law enforcement setting. Please list and explain any additional work experience you believe would be applicable.
* List and explain your experience developing and utilizing community resources (i.e. drug and alcohol programs, housing and community service placement, financial assistance, counseling and job placement) to assist your clients in a parole/probation, criminal justice, or law enforcement setting.

Working Conditions
The position may involve working in adverse weather conditions and require physical tasks such as climbing, navigating rough terrain, and potentially restraining combative individuals. Direct contact with adults on supervision, who may become hostile, is expected. The role also includes assisting with security measures in emergencies, working irregular hours, and some travel. A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.

Requirements for Employment
The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position.
