4Position Title: Field Training Officer (FTO) Paramedic FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Currently hiring for San Antonio and Bexar County 911 SUMMARY: This is a leadership position within the company who is responsible for training and evaluation of a junior/probationary level and existing employees in the organization. Creates a pleasant, cheerful, informative and educational process by which employees can learn about EMS systems and its protocols. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES: (Responsibilities include, but not limited to) * In addition to carrying out the routine duties of a Paramedic, the field training officer also serves as a leader in the organization. * Provide training and evaluation to new and existing employees. * Participate in the New Employee Orientation Process (NEOP), on the truck field operations training, and instruct continuing medical education classes. * Serve as a mentor, role model and educational resource for fellow employees. * Keep seasoned EMS staff current and provide refresher and remedial training as needed. * Be motivated to teach, to facilitate learning, and to ensure trainee acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to become a successful EMS employee. * Clearly communicate training expectations, evaluate applying concepts learned in the classroom to field training operations, and provide evaluation to the trainee on progress in the program. * Responsible for making sure shift duties are performed properly and completely. * Instruct and/or assist with instruction of continuing education classes and other training offerings. * Participate in professional development training and remain current in emerging trends in the emergency medical service field. * Assist the Clinical Manager with tasks as assigned and attend scheduled FTO meetings. * Serve as a primary liaison between company management and field personnel. * Explain company policies, guidelines, rules and regulations. * Other related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: * Personal effectiveness/credibility. * Collaboration skills and flexibility. * Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills and ability to provide constructive feedback. * Demonstrate good written communication skills. * Excellent organization, coordination, management and observation skills. * Ability to foster the development of a continuous learning environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Excellent clinical/work record. * Meet and maintain current Paramedic qualifications and physical requirements. * Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of the company clinical protocols, clinical operating guidelines and operational policies. * Experience with instruction and/or training delivery. * Possess current state certification and a minimum of two (2) years full-time experience in EMS. * Valid state driver's license.
