PT - Mascot Performer & Engagement Coordinator Salary: $15.00 per hour Summary of Function: The Mascot Performer & Engagement Coordinator is responsible for bringing the college mascot to life and enhancing school spirit through dynamic performances and community engagement. This role involves managing mascot appearances, maintaining the mascot costume, and coordinating with various departments to ensure the mascot's presence at key events. This role requires creativity, organizational skills, and a passion for promoting school spirit and engagement. Typical Duties: * Serves Students. Mascot Performance and Maintenance: Perform as the college mascot at athletic events, community functions, and other college-related activities. Develop and execute entertaining routines and skits to engage audiences according to an established mascot persona. Ensure the mascot costume is well-maintained, cleaned after each use, and in good condition. Participate in initial and ongoing mascot training with the AWC Spirit Team and the Marketing and Communications Department to learn proper mascot engagement and refine the mascot persona. * Event Coordination: Schedule and coordinate mascot appearances in collaboration with event organizers. Manage logistics for mascot travel and accommodations when necessary. Work closely with the athletics and marketing teams to maximize mascot visibility. * Community Engagement: Foster relationships with local schools, businesses, and organizations to arrange mascot appearances. Represent the college at community events to promote school spirit and engagement. Coordinate with charitable organizations for mascot participation in community service events. * Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the mascot and the request process. Partner with the Director of Content Strategy & Development to promote the mascot's activities and appearances on social media. Develop strategies to increase mascot visibility and engagement with the college community. * Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: * High School Diploma * Strong organizational and communication skills * Creative and enthusiastic with a passion for school spirit and community engagement Additional Eligibility Requirements: * Arizona Driver's License or Equivalent Classification: * Non-Exempt Position Type & Work Schedule: * Part-time * Up to 19 hours per week * Work flexible schedule to meet the program, department, and/or institutional needs, which may include Fridays, nights, and/or weekends Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and procedures * Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows * Skill and ability to be self-directed and to manage one's own time * Skill in fostering a fun and energetic atmosphere with spectators and at events * Ability to be responsible and accountable to appearance schedules- arriving on time and remaining for the duration of a shift * Ability to exhibit strong non-verbal communication skills * Ability to demonstrate an outgoing performance personality with an ability to interact with others * Ability to provide high quality customer service * Ability to care for the mascot costume and props * Ability to maintain and demonstrate an independent and self-motivated style, while remaining flexible and adaptable * Ability to complete all departmental and/or institutional mandatory training or development * Ability to contribute to a collaborative team environment * Ability to provide assistance for diverse populations in a professional and supportive manner * Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, in writing, and in a public setting, and to relate to others in a professional manner * Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working and collaborative relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, students, and the public Work Environment: * Office and classroom setting * Normal to high noise levels * Working environment may include various locations across the service district, indoor and/or outdoor locations as needed to support program, department or institutional needs * Must be able to perform duties in a variety of weather conditions Physical Demands: * Ability to wear and perform in a mascot costume for extended periods * Physical stamina and the ability to perform energetic routines * Prolonged periods of standing, walking, engaging in high levels of physical activity * May lift, carry, push, and/or pull a minimum of 25 pounds * Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or twist * Must be able to navigate various departments and venues across the organization and traveling locations physical premises Travel: * Required to travel to other locations as needed to support program, department and institutional needs * Reliable personal transportation is required for attending events and activities both on and off campus, including those at local schools and community events, as scheduled and needed Note: * Yuma Campus * Not Benefits Eligible * The statements within this document describe the general nature, level, and type of work performed by the individual(s) assigned to this classification and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, demands, and skills required of personnel so classified * The institution and its designated representatives reserve the right to add, delete, or modify any and/or all provisions of this description at any time as needed without notice POSTING DATE: November 16, 2024 APPLICATION PROCEDURE: The following materials must be uploaded at the time of application.
