School Psychology Intern JobID: 9325 Position Type: Special Education/School Psychology Intern Date Posted: 1/7/2025 Location: District Wide Date Available: 08/01/2025 Closing Date: 03/01/2025   Additional Information: Show/Hide The school psychology intern works to provide psychological services to students and families that require evaluative and support services. PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the 2025-2026 school year only. Compensation includes Full Salary (row A on Certified Salary Schedule) plus benefits Responsibilities: * Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary assessment team for initial and re-eligibility evaluations for students with or suspected of having a disability. * Participate as a member of the multi-sensory team involving identification of student needs and characteristics of services and program modifications. * Provide individual and/or group counseling to students with mental health or social difficulties (generally serving students with an identified disability or at-risk) under the supervision of the school psychologist. * Participate on a school-based problem solving team as needed. * Assist the building IEP team to complete Functional Behavioral Analysis as needed to develop a legally defendable Behavior Intervention Plan. * Provide consultation and advocacy support services including problem solving and resources to parents of students with disabilities and/or at-risk students. * Provide training and educational programs for district staff and parents as directed by the Director of Special Education. * Assist and/or interview students during a crisis to determine level of threat for harm to self or others, under the supervision of the school psychologist. * Advocate for students based on professional and ethical guidelines, as well as district and state standards. * Maintain accurate and complete records required by law and in accordance with district policy. Qualifications: * Knowledge and basic understanding of IDEA 2004, Exceptional Children's Education Act, and other relevant pieces of legislation. * Knowledge of current psychological techniques including the administration and interpretation of various assessment tools. * Knowledge and understanding of basic psychological and educational foundations including social and cognitive development, theories of learning and motivation, and awareness of instructional practices. * Knowledge of current best practices in school-based prevention and early intervention strategies for students with learning disabilities, or mental health and/or social needs. * Demonstrated skills in facilitation, conflict resolution and student and adult learning. * Demonstrated skills in data gathering and analysis. * Evidence of organization, planning and time management skills. Experience: * Must have, or have the ability to obtain, a current School Psychologist Intern Authorization from the Colorado Department of Education. * Must have completed graduate coursework in educational/psychological assessment. Position starts August 1, 2025. PLEASE NOTE: Internships are for 1 year only.
