Department Summary
The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art's (JSMA) Education Department is integral to the museum's mission. It provides art production programs in person and remotely for visitors of all ages and abilities. The JSMA serves an increasingly diverse audience including university students, K12 students and teachers, visitors with disabilities, and members of the healthcare community.
Position Summary
The Museum Program Manager for Community Engagement and Wellbeing coordinates the planning, administration, and implementation of wellness-centered and community-based educational programs for the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art (JSMA). These projects support the museum's mission to foster inclusive community engagement through the transformative power of art. This role involves managing various projects, overseeing programming, and building partnerships to deliver accessible and enriching art experiences that promote individual and community wellbeing.
This position serves as the project manager for the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art's (JSMA) Education Programs, managing wellness and community-based arts initiatives, such as Art Heals, Decompress with Art, and many others. For each program, the person in this role will define scope, timeline, resources, milestones, coordinates resources and logistics, tracks project timelines, and more. This position is responsible for implementing project communication plans with stakeholders and community partners.
This is a specialized role within museum education focused on integrating wellness principles and community outreach. The position is distinct from other project management roles due to its emphasis on arts and museum based educational programming designed to improve wellbeing, cultural understanding, and overall community engagement through art.
The Museum Program Manager for Community Engagement and Wellbeing works independently in managing day-to-day operations and progress towards goals and outcomes. This position reports to the Director of Education.

This position needs to have the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required by public programs.
Minimum Requirements
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, skills and experience.
* 1 year of experience with Museums, Cultural Art Organization, or other Art related nonprofit environments, either paid or volunteer.
* 1 year of Program Management experience related to Art, Health, or Wellness.
Professional Competencies
* Knowledge of Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), mindfulness practices, or therapeutic art-making processes.
* Effective communication and written skills, including the ability to present and engage with diverse audiences.
* Ability to project manage and organize multiple ongoing projects, including coordinating schedules, maintaining budgets, and managing contractors or volunteers.
* Proficiency with digital engagement tools, online programming platforms, standard office software, or museum-specific databases and social media to promote and deliver remote learning or wellbeing workshops.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree or certification in relevant fields like Art Therapy, Social Work, Public Health, or Museum Studies.
* Experience collaborating with health professionals, social workers, or community organizations.
* Experience in writing grants, securing funding, or building partnerships with community organizations and healthcare institutions to support educational and wellness programming.
* 5 years of experience in museum education, community engagement, or a similar role.
* Familiarity with museum artworks related to themes of wellness, mindfulness, or therapeutic art practices.
* Experience with developing and facilitating educational and wellness programs in museum or community settings, delivering cutting-edge, evidence-based educational programs focused on wellbeing, community engagement, and inclusivity.
* Experience working with diverse populations, including underserved communities, individuals in healthcare settings, or groups experiencing social isolation.
* Experience in program evaluation and reporting, with the ability to assess impact and adjust programming accordingly.
