Hours/week: 40
Days: The schedule is generally Monday through Friday with weekend hours approximately every month and a half.

A day in the life of a Referral Center team member can include completing intake for new referrals; contacting insurance companies for authorization; communicating coverage limitations; appealing coverage denials; and coordinating with other teams in the health system. If you are someone who works well independently, yet enjoys working with a team that is supportive, fun-loving, and strives for excellence, then this may be the place for you.
Education:
Associate's degree in Business or health care related field preferred.
Experience:
Two or more years experience in a medical office or hospice agency preferred. Strong customer service experience is a plus.
Summary: The HH Admission & Authorization Specialist interfaces with referrals sources and departmental liaisons to coordinate potential admission to Hospice, or to receive Home Infusion Services. Determines patient's eligibility for services based on medical condition, insurance benefits and geographical coverage. Coordinates admission to Hospice by preauthorizing services with the payor, registering the patient and arranging the admission in compliance with physician orders. Maintains authorization during the duration of the patient's services. Functions as the central point of contact for interactions with care team members, administrative employees and patients.
Education: Associate's degree in Business or health care related field preferred.
Experience: Two or more years experience in a medical office or home health and hospice agency preferred.
Other Qualifications: Mandatory computer keyboarding skills, ability to operate standard office machines and equipment such as a telephone, calculator, and copier. Must exhibit basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word Training/experience in use of computer spread sheets, word processing and information tracking systems. Medical terminology knowledge required. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must exhibit an ability to work with coworkers. Must demonstrate exceptional organizational and problem solving skills. Must have the ability to deal with multiple tasks at the same time while maintaining attention to detail. Must be creative and forward thinking when faced with challenges. Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
