It is expected that employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status in the future, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES: * Responsible for the data collection of an assigned portion of the bi-annual OEWS (Occupational Employment & Wage Statistics) survey of approximately 6,700 employers. * Process survey data and generate reports using the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) developed computer database program known as OWDN on a timely basis. * Assist with the on-going quality assurance review of survey data and with the OEWS interim and final master file review and revision process. * Perform and/or oversee complex survey industry changes. * Develop thorough knowledge of NAICS. * Act as OEWS liaison with Classification Unit on all NAICS related issues. Review completed survey forms. * Investigate, document, and if necessary, revise all discrepancies. * Code all non-coded occupations. * When necessary, contact employers to resolve discrepancies. * Assist with creation, review and publication of OEWS estimates.
