This position is located at 3512 Bush St., Raleigh, NC 27609. The duties of this position are as follows: The Department of Adult Correction (DAC) was established effective January 1, 2023, pursuant to legislative action in Session Law 2021-180. The new Department of Adult Correction (DAC) is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adult adjudicated offenders incarcerated or under community supervision by the state of North Carolina. The Mission of the DAC is that all divisions of the Department of Adult Correction protect the public by collaboratively focusing on rehabilitation, protection, innovation, accountability, and professionalism. In doing so, the DAC operates over 50 correctional facilities and correctional facilities and maintains supervision of approximately 30,000 incarcerated individuals and approximately 70,000 individuals on community supervision. The Division of Rehabilitation and Reentry oversees efforts across the DAC to provide high-quality, evidence-based programs and diverse services to incarcerated individuals as well as those on community supervision. Comprised of three major sections, Rehabilitative Services, Reentry Services, and Social Work Services, the Division supports DAC staff statewide in the administration of programs and services, technical support, training and operation guidance, program development and implementation, program evaluation, and more.  As part of the Division of Rehabilitation and Reentry, the Rehabilitative Services section is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring correctional interventions for offenders in facilities. The goals of the section include promoting public safety, improving offender behavior, and reducing re-offending by successful reentry back to the community. Utilizing evidence-based practices as the foundation of all programs and services, offenders are prepared with skills and tools to live as productive members of the community. The section focuses on a full continuum starting with research and decision support analysis, delivering evidence-based offender programs and services in the major areas of employment readiness, religious and faith-based opportunities, cognitive behavioral programs, educational support, vocational/skill training, family services and parenting programs, and more. This section also maintains responsibility for oversight of digital programming, primarily meaning tablet-based rehabilitative resources in the hands of incarcerated individuals. The primary purpose of this position is to support Rehabilitative Services efforts in safely and strategically expanding Work Release opportunities for incarcerated individuals in North Carolina. Work Release involves a partnership between the DAC, specified correctional institutions, and specified local employers to allow eligible incarcerated individuals to become employed by the local employer during incarceration. Those assigned to Work Release typically work on-site with the employer during specified hours, gain valuable job skills, and earn market wages. This position will support the expansion of Work Release in several ways: * Assisting the DAC and its partnering organizations in utilizing labor market analyses to determine optimal employment industries for Work Release opportunities.  * Establishing and maintaining a robust employer partnership development model to successfully recruit and retain partnerships with local employers across the state. This model will involve direct and regular communication and coordination with specified DAC Institutions. * Coordination with DAC Institutions and employers to complete necessary onboarding and training processes for successful Work Release initiation. * Arranging transportation for Work Release offenders to facilitate employment to correctional facilities and include providing transportation when necessary and approved. This position will report to the Director of Rehabilitative Services and will work on a team focused on Work Release and related workforce development tasks. Frequent in-state and local travel will be required, with occasional overnight stays.
