Description
Glenville State University is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to advise prospective students concerning admission standards, financial aid, academic goals, and required curricular units. This is a full time, 12-month, non-classified, exempt position.
Examples of Duties
- A counselor will maintain their assigned recruitment territory located in West Virginia and other assigned areas.
- In addition, the counselor will work to schedule and facilitate recruiting arrangements and on campus recruiting initiatives.
- Counselors will be expected to cultivate and maintain relationships with high school counselors and meet with prospective students and their families on a daily basis.
- Occasional weekends plus extensive travel with overnight stay is required.
Typical Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree and excellent interpersonal skills along with strong organizational and communication skills are required. Basic computer knowledge is required; preferably with a student database. Candidates should have a high degree of flexibility, self-motivation, and the ability to manage and retrieve information. Additional computer skills using word processing and spreadsheet applications are preferred.
