FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Assistant Football Coach- Offensive Coordinator.
Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.

JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Football Coach assists the head football coach with providing vision, leadership and oversight for current student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, alumni and parents. The Assistant Coach also serves as the Defensive Coordinator for the Fort Valley State University (FVSU) NCAA Division II Football Program in accordance with the guidelines established by the department, FVSU, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), and the NCAA.
This is a fulltime, 12-month position that reports to the Head Football Coach.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Abide and comply with all applicable NCAA, SIAC, and FVSU policies, rules and regulations
- Attend practices and games
- Develop Defensive practice and game plans for the football program
- Provide individual and small group instruction
- Analyze game/practice videos
- Responsible for assisting the Special Teams Coordinator with the FVSU Special Teams package
- Coordinate, identify, evaluate, and actively recruit prospective students including scheduling on-campus visits
- Attend meetings with the coaching staff and individual student-athletes
- Strive to build and strengthen cross-campus relationships
- Assist Athletics Department with fundraising endeavors
- Perform summer duties and special projects as assigned by the Head Football Coach or Director of Athletics
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
- Ability to work collaboratively with departmental and university personnel and administration
- Demonstrated ability to participate in public relations activities, to include television and radio interviews, and press conferences, as appropriate
- Demonstrated ability to handle high levels of stress and anxiety
- Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA and SIAC rules and regulations governing recruitment, eligibility and related functions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with departmental and university personnel and administration
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Travel required during playing season and recruitment season
- Evenings, weekends during playing season and recruitment season
- Working outdoors
- Must be able to stand or walk for an extended period of time
- Lift or carry up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, reach overhead, lift overhead
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- Three (3) years coaching experience
- Experience as a college football player
- Valid Driver's License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree
- Experience coaching at the collegiate level
- Experience recruiting student athletes
